LOL :) Nice ones Mark. I have that very same Shun brand but in the Santoku. The contoured pakkawood handle is shaped for a right handed grip. Not sure if they make a lefty version as well or not. The Pakkawood will very slowly and gradually lighten up in colour a tad after many uses/ washes (in the dishwasher ROFL :D )

They are great knives but please do not be tempted to do what I always do with any new knife - ie: don't try to sharpen it at a very acute angle it chips :p

Great pictures Mark.
Knives also look good, but something is missing ...... They do not have Spyderhole   Just wondering do they cut? Are they users or safe queens? :D :)

Dan, none of the issues mentioned above should be a problem.
I am right handed and the shape of the handle is perfect for me.
My wife went through Yin-Yang training and never puts any knife in dishwasher(anymore ;) ).
And finally I just have to learn the way to sharpen the knives like Shuns before I can do any damage :D . I might take some lessons from my knife mentor Roman to learn the proper way to keep them sharp.

They cut pretty well. My biggest concern is to keep the fingers out of the way. ;) And Yes they are users. Big time! I especially love a monstrous cook's knife :D

WhyNot,

It appears an online retailer is using your image to sell their knife:

I found this thread thanks to Wouter's (Spydercollector's) recent posts of his TI Military. I can see why he was inspired WhyNot - you have a great eye for photography! It's been a lot of fun looking through your years of collecting.

It is too bad that he is not around anymore.

Hi, everyone.
It’s been a while…
My good old friend Roman was working tirelessly on convincing me to switch from my trusted Cento to something more high tech and upscale. Finally he took matters into his own hands and sent me this beautiful CF Caly 3.5 as a birthday present.
I always thought that Caly 3.5 has the best combination of form and function. Roman, thanks to you I got a proof for that! I hope these pictures do it justice.

Welcome back Mark and congrats on your birthday present. It goes to show that we still have upstanding members of our forum, Roman being among the best! Cheers to you both.

Xcptnl,
Thank you, Sir.

Roman,
Cento is permanently retired. Caly is in my pocket all the time. Thank you, again!

Wouter,
It is good to be back…even for a short time. I wish I could say “to be continued…” but I ran out of knives. Maybe Roman can send me some of his to play with :)
I think I just have one more to share.
