Well done!
I think you definitely knocked one out of the park (that's a good thing for those not familiar with baseball) with the Junior. I'll be getting one for sure. :spyder:
I think the Balance is another one I'll get right at release for sure. Down the road a bit maybe the Perrin and Anso models, too.

I like Para I as well because it's smaller than Para II and fits my hand pretty well except for onething though, that is the exposed corner when closed.
Now that Spyderco has solved that problem, why don't they fix that exposd tang on Para I and enlarge the lanyard hole like the one on Para II which I think is alot better and keep Para I line alive? Personally, I want Spyderco continue to produce Para I with some minor refinements.

I've gotta say, watching the Paramilitary video really makes me want one! It seems like it will be one of those knives that makes you go 'wow' when you get it into your hand. It seems to have slightly more 'industrial' styling with the flat screws and the way the jimping is, something that I think will be quite sexy in hand. Cool!

Yes, Eric did a great job highlighting the differences. I'd been thinking about all they'd do was the clip and maybe the exposed tang, but that's really an amazing series of tweaks that make an almost completely different knife. Very good work, Eric, Sal and others.npueppke wrote:I've gotta say, watching the Paramilitary video really makes me want one! Thanks Spyderco!
Thanks Wouter for posting this. That is an amazing knife. Other than the FFG Delica this will be the end all be all knife for me. I could get 2 and never buy another knife again.Mr Blonde wrote:After all the forum discussions, here’s the end product; the new and improved Paramilitary.
The most important improvements (at least for me) are the 4-way clip, no more exposed corner and the improved ergonomics. The clip on the Para 2 is put as far back on each position as possible, to facilitate deep carry. This conventional clip still provides plenty of handle to grab for a fast draw. I like wire clips, but on some knives the deep-carry feature can be a hindrance when you want a ‘fast draw’. On the old Para a small corner of the blade tang was exposed when the knife was folded. It was the main reason for me to get rid of my Para. This problem is now solved; the knife now looks and feels way better. The ergos of the handle were also improved. I no longer need to use the choil for a full-handed grip. The handle on the Para 2 is a little longer than the first version. All of the edges were nicely beveled; it almost melts in my hand.
The price for these improvements is perhaps that the Para 2 almost feels like an ‘intermediate Military’ vs. a ‘junior model’ of the Military. I’m definitely going to get one; I think it will make a perfect companion folder to the next prototype in this report.

WOW!

This might be out there but i just thought i'd share it. If you look at the szabo folder i think if pressed hard enough against the pocket while drawing the spyderhole hump might actually act as a wave feature. This is just in theory but seems possible or very easy to make possible. The para two is definitely going to be on my list and after watching the video for the frn manix 2, caly 3.5, and the PPT I'll be getting those as well. The ffg blade would be amazing on the frn manix 2.
Breeden Blade Length?
The Balance and the CF Chinese are must haves for me - always like the Chinese blade shape but not the coated Al scales, and the CF Balance just looks like the perfect small knife. And the maroon Shabaria too - had a original Shabby I've always regretted selling. A very non-intimidating big knife, plus cooler now in maroon. Also, did anyone catch the blade length on the Breeden? Looks like around 3.25 or so.
Wow.
Greg
PS - GREAT job, Wouter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Jens Anso Zulu Prototype video
Thanks for the kind words guys, it's a lot work but I hardly consider it work. The rendering of the videos takes a lot of time, and I still have a few to do. I did not catch the specs on the Breeden proto, but I believe it was around 3.2" in bladelength.
Here's a video of Eric going over the Jens Anso collab
