Hey Sal,

Where in the pipeline are the Anso and PPT folders? They are some of the more intricate models we've seen and I'm wondering how close to production they are.

Some utterly beautiful pieces that are up and coming and give me something to look forward to in the near future.

The ethnic blade line is fantastic, but also usable as EDC.

Im excited.

Good job Sal and your crew.

Oh my, Sal you do know how to stir a guy up (with knives).
The Perrin looks like a must and of course the Blackie Sage III as well. The Sage III will have tex G10, I like it.
Hope the Sage III comes out around June?? :D

sal wrote:Hi MLR,

The prototype had a ball bearing detent. I don't know if the new self close will be on the first run of the "2" version. It's development is a few months behind the Para2.

Also, we had 23 concept models for which we didn't show pictures as they are not far enough along and we've not begun tooling. There were several Ed schempp designs, two Dialex designs, Perrin, Bradley and others. They are quite interesting and will more than likely move forward, but they are farther behind on the list.

Hello Sal,

Do you any special info on that Blue jigged bone Delica ? is it going to be coming with a wooden box or anything out of the ordinary ?

I really like the Caly 3.5 design. The blade profile reminds me of the full size Calypso. Sal, I was curious to what goes into the decision process on the country of origin. I noticed the PPT and Zulu designs were Taiwanese made (assembled?). Is that in part to the contoured G10 handles? I assume with some of the Sprint Runs such as Chinese and Shabaria models that the tooling is already in place and Japanese made as a result. Also, is there any chance on seeing a Chinese with a Chris Reeves Integral Lock? Thanks again for some exciting upcoming models.

I agree, someone that owns every single variation of the Delica they have ever seen. Someone who has a collection like RIOT, should get an email at least two weeks prior to release to get part of his next paycheck ready for purchase... Of all Delicas.

Maybe even a shot at a prototype or two. :D

Spyderco = The Best

I have to know more about the balance! Exactly how big is it? Is there a story behind it like the Khukuri and Barong?

All of these new pictures make me drool but the real must haves for me for this year are the FRN UKPK, Balance and FRN Manix... of course if funds allow the Superleaf, Caly3.5 and Para2 are right up there...

Any new Byrds you're allowed to show us, or talk about?

After further, careful study of the Para 2 pics, all I can say is:
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! :D
Everything I was lukewarm/didn't care for about the Para (which I still like overall), seems to have been addressed. I'll bet this is the sleeper in the lineup. ;) Can't wait to feel it in my hand because it seems to be the most practical EDC design overall. Now bring it on in S90V!

I think there are no new Byrds. The idea was to make less variations and keep (inproving) the core models.
So there will be the Cara Cara 2 and the Meadowlark2, in FFG!

Well, if Sal and crew "balance" everything out a bit more and put teeth along the whole blade as well, I know what my next Spydie will be :p

Mr Blonde wrote:This knife will have a VG-10 blade and it will be made in Japan. The G10 for the handle btw, will be shipped to Japan so the knife can be assembled there. Incidentally, when the reverse happens –when parts are shipped to Golden for assembly- Spyderco generally won’t mark the knife as ‘made in USA’. This Jason Breeden model has IMO a similar heft and feel as the Captain. It may seem a little blocky, but it feels pretty good in the hand and it’s lighter than it looks from these pics.

Thanks for all the pics Wouter, I wish I could have been there myself!

Do you remember the thickness of the Breeden rescue? I would love to see this one with a 2 mm spine that tapers to a 1.5 mm point, maybe I just want a straight razor for EDC. You know, for some reason I am always SUPER attracted to the large sheeps foot, and all the more with this one since it's got some belly :D . I wonder if this design is actually intended for rescue, or named so because that's the category the blade shape fits best into?

Thanks again for the pics, mouth watering eyecandy as always :)
