To Kill A Clip-It
I have carried RFP for years, and experienced "the incident" on several occasions. Recently, I began wearing suspenders (tired of hiking my pants up) and found a side benefit. Switching from RFP to IWB of my now-beltless jeans, I discovered that the unused belt loops made a nice clip cover for my Para. Positioning the Para slightly behind the belt loop allows the curved clip end to fit neatly under the loop.

In January, I was walking pretty fast and my para caught in the door jam and sent me spinning. I barely even caught myself. It didn't even break, in fact I was still able to use it. Not bad considering it sent a 180lb guy into almost a full 360 spin, lmao!
The para-military is a bad *** knife! Almost four years of hard use and it's still kickin!
I mailed it in to Spyderco and paid $5 for a new clip. Good to go.

I dont carry it regularly but my ats34 milli has a piece of surgical tubing stretched over the clip -dual purpose it keeps me from scratching stuff up and it is grippy enough to hold it tightly in my pocket. the only downside is that its a little slower to get in and out of the pocket

I'm in the no-clip camp. I lost my first clipped knife years ago (first spyderco I owned), and have never trusted them since. First thing I do is remove the clip. The second thing is tie on a Lanyard. In my experience, the mlliseconds saved by a clip versus lanyard isn't worth the risk of losing a knife. I love my Sage II...after I drilled a lanyard hole. I also keep the knife in a leather slip sheath I made, to keep down the pocket lint and stuff. When I grab the lanyard the sheath stays in the pocket. It's a little slower to put back into my pocket but what's the hurry?

I carry RFP as well, and did the same exact thing to my Para clip. I bent it back into shape, but went a bit overboard. It was a bit tight against the scale thereafter. But then it ended up on the orange Millie where, strangely, it seems just right.Kuolema wrote:I was driving, proceeded to shift my body, unaware that my Sage I clip was clipped onto the seatbelt (it had somehow slid under the clip) and subsequently bent it.
Other than that, never really had an issue with catching a clip while moving around on foot. Scratching, sure, but not catching - kind of like Ladies Night at the corner bar.
