Ok I've been noticing on some of these threads paople have commented on "I have changed this or that" on their favorite .

I thought it would be nice to get some of these mods all on to one topic. Besides I'm really curious what dfmccarthy is mod-ing on his Rescue (but didn't think the Lefties Unite was the right place to ask).

I.E. sounds like lots of people have put grip tape on their SS models to help the grip. I've done that for my friend's Police. What have you done? pics if you have them.

so far:

*removed the black from the clip on both my Delica and Cricket
*engraved on the back of the cricket handle(not the scales, but the lock and spacer) "Momento Mori" (Remember you must die, from the old Christian practice of 'Cinder Day')
*Engraved a small swatzika(sp?) on my front scale, by the lanyard hole, CORRECT VERSION, not the corrupted symbol. Nice clean smooth curves, the tips almost touching the sides, graceful double 'S'.
*making(almost done) SS handles for my Cricket(can you tell I like playng with it?), still need the pivot hole drilled and worked for the d-pin. Planning to engrave a trinity on the same spot as I did on the tufram handles.

The only modification I've done is to sand out the rough corners on the Native. With the corners softened, it is much better suited to use.

VW- I take it you are using the swastika as the ancient "hooked cross" religious symbol, or do I read you wrongly? Just curious.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

S&S

it depends on the culture you are looking form. The Double S version is a dominant symbol in a couple that I've seen.

The one I was thinking of is the Druid symbol, that of victory and strength. There is also the view from India, that of peace and love. The symbol is the exact same in both cases.

Hitler corrupted the Druid one, squaring off the sides and making it black(victory by death) on red(blood), accented by white(the aryan(I know I killed the spelling) race). I did a 8 page paper on Hitler in 2000, and thats one of the interesting bits of info.

I had a ss dragonfly engraved my my parents' wedding anniversary (23rd I think). I have had my spydercard coated with boron carbide, which is way tougher than almite, tufram, tini, etc. I am trying to get a hold of a tufram cricker or two to send off to santa fer stoneworks so they will do the yin and yang job on it. I am also thinking about dissasembling my military to have the blade coated. I am also thinking about getting another lum, this time a green one, and disassembling it to have the liner lock and blade coated. I think green and black would be a very cool color combo.

Didn't somebody a while back have a etched into the G-10 of their Chinook?

I've put some traction notches in the back of my SS Delica. Right behind the Spydie hole.

Vampyre, you're one of the few I've seen that know the hooked cross had meaning before the Nazis corrupted it. For example, there's a rather old church in my hometown (Armenian Orthodox, I think?) that proudly displays it, and enjoys telling it's true history to any one who will listen.

I've always had a thing for Celtic symbols, and even before I knew the info about WW2/Hitler I learned about this one.

You're right though, most people have no idea what it stands for, other than slaughter by Hitler.

another one that most people don't understand is the Trinity. Most see it as simply another holy symbol, but there are a few meanings. Birth,Life,Death; Mind,Body,Soal; Victory,Success,Failure; Father,Son,Holy Spirit

In Nomine Patris, et Filli, et Spiritus Sancti, Morituros Solitimus
*salutes*

There are many things that people don't understand in this world, Vamp. Take a look at a History Channel "Secret Societies" special and you'll really know that to which I refer.

I don't like to mess with a too much. The looks are simply too good, and they get mad and bite if you push them too far!

That symbol may also be found on several chruches, especially in southern Spain where the morrs had control for several hundred years.

1. Traction notches on the spine of my Endura and my L'il Temperance.
2. I had a new clip built for my Chinook. Now it's tip-up left or right.
3. All my clips get covered with grip tape.

These mods, are you guys doing the work yourself (the traction groves and tapping for moving the clips) or do you have somebody do it? Do some of these changes need special tools or equipment?

I like the Boron Carbide idea, where could I get that done for some of my , like the card (would it cover up engraving I'd had done on that blade)?

VW,
What about the use of the swastika for a symbol of the sun (the giver of life) for Native Americans (I believe Navjo)?

S&S,
The History Channel does have some really cool programs.

For the boron carbide talk to darrel at bodycote, should be www.bodycote.com it is less than a micron thick if i remember correctly, a almost non existent coefficient of friction, hardness between 95-98 Rc, rust proof. The color depends on how polished the material you are coating is. If it is mirror like it will be a deep black that shines, if brushed it will be a dark black/grey matte.

Pachucks,

I had a new clip built for my Chinook by Reese Weiland. It looks like the clip found on the L'il Temperance Prototype. It's made from thick Ti and the knife's tapped for tip-up carry, left or right. He does great work but he's usually very back-logged. It was a couple of months before he could get mine done. I wish I could post a pick but I don't have the capability.

VW,
Please do post pics when you get back. It will be nice to see what you've done.

Anybody,
Has anybody tried one of the / River City Sheath combos? I keep looking at them but haven't heard how well they work.
