Blade swap - from Gen4 Delica to G10 Delica

#1

Post by chp5 »

I own many Delicas from multiple generations. I happen to have two Gen4
Delicas with with zdp189 blades (my personal favorite). My new G10 Delica has a VG-10 blade.

Can I swap one of the zdp189 blades and put it in my G10 Delica (and vice versa)? Will it fit/work? The VG-10 blade is full flat ground - where the zdp blade is not - but I don't think that should have any affect.

Thanks.

yeah its possible. be careful as its not the easiest to get that FRN back together. if you strip a screw like i did you in a world of suck too. also doing this will most likely void warranty. good luck- CB

It's not only possible, it's awesome. I have a G-10 Delica and Endura with serrated ZDP-189 blades. Best knives ever. Mr. Blonde's Delica Lego thread is a big help in putting the FRN Delica back together. Also, some people on this forum recommended swapping the lock bars along with the blades in another thread. I think it's because the ZDP blade is harder, so it'll wear out the VG-10 lockbar on the G-10 Delica if you match them together. When I did my swap, I also dyed the British racing green FRN scales black, which looks great. Good luck, you're about to have an incredible knife.

Take care,

Stephen

Thanks for the replies. I just found Mr. Blonde's Delica Lego thread. It will be a great help.

Thread resurrection... I just found this as I just bought a Delica4 with Wave opener and want G10 scales on this awesome knife... So I just bought a Delica4 on eBay with the green G10 scales and am hoping to combine them... But from the Lego thread it looks like its beyond my skill level... *Edited*
