Damascus bolsters. ;)
Everything else the same.

I'll be carrying my C83 this week...in honor of this thread.

Wood or natural/butterscotch micarta, keep the bolsters and skeletonize the liners.

Will be a must have. Not too many dressier knives with a :spyder: on the market at the moment ;)

Ivory scales, Orig bolsters , SS Damascus blade, SS clip would be an instant Classic.

Trust me on this...........

An orig with Burgundy Micarta run should be made as well for those looking for a great knife at a great price.

Were only talking about the full sized knife correct?

No interest in another little one.........

There you go, 2 that will defiantly sell.

Are we there yet?
BTW, yesterday was a recycle day. Persian was going through cardboard boxes like through butter. I love recycle days. :D

I would definitely be down for wood or ivory handles with etched or damascus bolsters.

edit: Any type of bone handle would be sweet as well.

Well after owning both the C83 and mini Persian for a little while now I though I'd better put my 2 cents in...

For a sprint of the large Persian I'd really like to see something basic like Burgundy or white Micarta. For a knife of this size I feel when you use more exotic handle materials (for example bone), it's perceived more as a collectible, and as a result the knife rarely gets used. In it's original form the large Persian is a joy to use, and more people need to experience it. I'd love to see this make another appearance in Spyderco's line up and staying with Micarta keeps it realistic as a user and can still be relatively easily modified by those who need to customize.

My thoughts on the mini Persian are somewhat a little different, mainly due to it's smaller size and it's suitability to more gentlemanly like duties.
I couldn't agree more with the suggestion to replace the discontinued Kopa series with limited runs of the small Persian. Small runs and a wide variety of handle materials. This is one knife I'd really love to collect and use. With handle materials like Micarta you could retain the current clip configuration. For materials like bone where mounting a clip can be problematic, simply don't bother, leave it completely clipless. The small Persian does not need a clip. IMO mounting a clip on the bolster both spoils the flowing lines of the knife and leaves you with ugly holes on the bolster if you go clipless.

My 2 cents...

Glad for the bump. I was just thinking about this thread when I was looking at the orange Dodo thread.

This is one knife that is definitely worth of a sprint run. It is one of Spyderco's best. I'm disappointed that I didnt start buying Spyderco's nicer models until recently. I missed out on a lot of great knives when they were both available and far cheaper. Now many models such as this fetch far more than their MSRP and thats if you can find one not used. I fully agree with keeping it somewhat simple; a user knife with class. Keep the Micarta.

As for the mini-Persian with various handles like the Kopa, It might be a cool idea, but I would still like to keep the clip.

Jez,
I have no idea who's suggestion it was to run limited runs of small Persians with various scales, but I absolutely love it. Clipless would be perfectly fine. Phillip Dobson rebuilt one small Persian for me with Amboyna burl clipless. I just didn't want to block gorgeous wood (no hole as well). I am absolutelly happy with clipless. One or two runs of 600 a year would be great.

Did someone mention the word Persian ? :p

Great idea on the mini sprints. But I think a Large and Mini matching twin sprint is even better :D

I'll go along with the white micarta if it's the creamy ivory.

I need to get a big Persian to complete my Schempp collaboration collection and a sprint run would be my preferred way to pick one up.

Yeah! It wasn't me who suggested it. I'm sure someone else came up with the idea several pages back in this thread, or maybe I was just reading between the lines.....

Oz,
I think your white Micarta pair surely can double as a production prototypes...

Could you imagine what one would look like with that smashed hippie micarta that butch makes? I like anything that has Ed's name on it. What a phenomenal designer!

Wow! While the amberish tint aged-ivory micarta [like post #21] is still my first choice, the smashed hippie is cool in its own right. I might have to get them both. :o

The smashed hippie design is interesting, but too busy for my tastes.
