I still hope to own [at least] one of these some day. Good to know they are still a possibility. :D

no offense, but your info is incorrect so I hope this helps...
from 653k of Ca. penal code
653k. Every person who possesses in the passenger's or driver's
area of any motor vehicle in any public place or place open to the
public, carries upon his or her person, and every person who sells,
offers for sale, exposes for sale, loans, transfers, or gives to any
other person a switchblade knife having a blade two or more inches in
length
is guilty of a misdemeanor.

what this means is in Ca. a switchblade with a length of less than 2 inches is legal, anything 2 inches or more will just get you into trouble with the law.

I'm glad to hear that they are being tested.

I thought that 653K was 2.0".

While the BiFold blade is only 1.25", in Colorado, it is still considered a restricted item (Colordo uses Federal law, which has no blade length listed).

This means that we can only sell it to those companies, individuals, for which restricted items are available.

They should be in production in a few months. It will take about 5-10 minutes to "get the hang of it", but deployment is quick and secure once undrstood.

There were many people involved in the design of this model. Eric penned the final pattern and his attention to detail is obvious. Fred Perrin will receive part royalty for the use of his "Perrin Finger Hole".

We look forward to having this unusual design in the marketplace. Thanx much for your interest.

Here in Ca. 2.0" is where an auto becomes illegal. If you look at Ca. legal autos such as the Benchmade benchmite, Pro-Tech runts, or the Microtech UTX-70-CA they all have a blade length just shy of 2 inches-

I don't mean to distract from the Bi-Fold, I just do not want to see fellow knife enthusiasts getting in trouble for bad info. Maybe we need a new forum area specific to knife law to help members stay on the right side of the law.

Really looking forward to this one - I hope they make their way to the Netherlands. I remember playing with it at the A'Dam show (2007 or 2008?) and had troubles passing it on to the next person :D :o

I agree 100%. I'd love a springless, legal-for-the-masses version!

Yes, that would be nice. Here in Michigan autos and assisted are no-no's.

Great to hear Sal (and Eric),

Hope this thing gets resolved quickly and I can get it in Europe (the Netherlands to be more precise).

BTW, any chance of seeing you anywhere in Germany or the Netherlands during a mini meet? It was postponed due to the economic downturn. Has it been cancelled all together now?

Regards,
André

I'll pull a spring out of one on Monday. The early prototypes were springless. They were still pretty easy to "flip" open which in some areas is classified as an auto.

We're tentatively planning an A'Dam meet the weekend before the IWA show.

Anything to report? Perhaps the tension on the pivot pin could be increased to snug things up a bit.
