Anyone recognize this knife maker's mark?

I bought a damascus tanto fixed blade from a local gentleman. He also had this one and I'd appreciate any help in finding out who made this. Thanks.

Just a thought: It seems reminiscent of some cattle branding styles, perhaps a "rocking E" or "Crazy E". I did a short search of branding registries, but considering my school load, couldn't devote enough time to uncover anything good. Do you know whereabouts the owner first got that knife?

I've seen that mark before, but I can't recall who it belongs to, sorry.
