Spyderco Tim Wegner, how is it?

Just wondering how it is for a carry knife. The only liner lock knifes iv'e used are the Cricket (own) and the Military (played with at gun shop). How does it compare in action feel.

Thanks

The large Wegner is my all time favorite "feeling" knife, of any brand. It feels very good in either of my hands.

It is solid and strong, without being excessively heavy. It has a very smooth action that goes "clank" when you flip the blade open, and this happens almost by itelf, I think due to the combination of the smooth liner lock action and blade heft. The blade locks up very solidly with no play. The ATS-34 blade steel easily takes a very fine edge and holds it a long time.

In addition, when you carry the Wegner in the right front pants pocket, the knife angles away from the main part of the pocket opening by virtue of it's curved handle, making it very comfortable to reach into that pocket to retrieve other items.

It's an absolute work of art.

The Wegner is my favorite production knife. I love it. Feels better than any I have ever used. Locks up like a bank vault.

I was very sad when I discovered they had been discontinued.

Jeff,

Didn't you buy a combo edge Wegner from SMKW?

Yes but I like the Pe better and When I got it the 60/40 was traded. Not a bad trade either, even for my PE Lum Chinese at the gun show.

Thanks guys, SMKW is going to kill me !!!

I've gone since last September from buying any Spidies but I've added an Ayoob and two Dyads (may sell one as I just don't like it much to keep two).

Like the others have mentioned, the Wegner is by far one of the most comfortable Spydie custom jobs out there. It fits my hand like no other knife out there. I have one from SMKW that is in combo edge and I love it. I might get a PE model someday, but we'll see.

If you don't have one, go get one!

I love the look and feel of my large PE Wegner. It's #328 so it's showcased. I'd love to use one as a EDC but it's too big for local legal carry.
