Any chance of the compression lock being moved to the right side to make it more user friendly to right hand users?

Just for the record, I use my Para right-handed and I find it works perfectly. I think it is more awkward to unlock left-handed (and I am a lefty by nature, but have become an ambidextrous cutter).

I unlock with my index finger (with other fingers on the handle out of the path of the blade) and flick blade closed. I don't see how this would be convenient left-handed.

When I unlock lefty, I use my thumb to unlock (like saber grip) and flick blade tang onto my index finger (similar to mid-lock) and then change grip to finish closing the blade with my thumb or index finger.

To me the Para clearly favors right-handed unlocking since you can do that lefty method I described above with your right hand just as easily, plus you can easily unlock righty with no fingers in the path of the closing blade! That's my take on it anyway. :spyder:

Hey D1omedes,

There is no line on the knife that is the same as the original, though it looks the same. Many small refinements. I think it's an improved design.

They were scheduled to go the end of '09, but we're running a tad slow. For sure by '10.

Once we get the design refined to the point where it has all we want, we'll consider a light weight version.

Sal,

What do you mean by a light weight variant; FRN, CF or some other scale material or some thing else entirely?

Thanks a lot for the info, Sal. I'm even more excited for the Para 2. A release in 2010 is fine by me. Gives me time to start saving up my pennies. :D

I've been out of the knife scene for a while now and just occasionally lurk in different forums. I can say that I've been waiting for the para 2 for like 4 years now and I CAN'T WAIT! :)

A variation request...

Sal,

My wife has asked that I put a posting here and beg you for a Pink digital camo version on the G-10 scales of a ParaMilitary. That would be the ultimate knife for her (and many other gals - especially those in the military and other "Save & Serve" jobs).

She's been wearing some variation of a Delica (including the original Pink) for 14 or so years now (she was trained by Eric R. when we lived in Washington State). Recently the Native has become a hit (of course her first two were Pink) but now there are quite a few at her disposal for rotation. We got our hands on some of the Paras at the Seconds Sale on Saturday morning and, like me, she's now hooked on the Para.

Thank you for your possible consideration of a digital pink camo run of the Para!

Spyderco buys G10, they don't produce it. Someone would need to ID a commercial vendor for pink digital camo.

A lot of women would fall in love with pink camo G10.
Spyderco has something with this stuff, the only limit would be the pattern you could put on the cloth.I was just thinking the other day that Green cloth with black spydie bugs would be a cool G10.

Marketing-dept-think ? ;) A lot of products marketed at women are women-specific solely because the product is pink. I think that may appeal to some people, but I doubt that women who actually routinely carry and use knives are superficial enough to go by color. My wife, for example, avoids pink because she assumes that the color is all the product has going for it (if it really worked, they would not have made such a big deal of it being pink). What she really wants is knives that (a) cut stuff, (b) rarely need sharpening, (c) don't break. Kind of what any knife user would want. The nice thing about pink (or orange even better) is that if it comes unclipped from your pocket or pack accidently, it might be easier to see on the ground.

Regarding Sal's update on Paramil2 status - yes! Still compression lock, "soon" to be available !!!! How about a version in M4 too (to go with the Milli in M4). :D

After using my para for the past few months I found out right hand tip up carry is very important for me. Sal, I understand why knives have the clip options of all 4 corners and why you have to make so many different knives. everyone is different and you cannot please everyone. The new Stretch FRN just took over my para. BTW, after buying 12 spydercos, I found out the delicas & enduras works the best for me. Sal you got knife designing right from the beginning.

I was thinking today that my Paramilli would get a lot more use with a backlock (midlock) - I just love this lock.

- best wishes, Jazz.
