Attaching Jester to Microlight... Suggestions?

#1

Post by PsychGrad »

I've been trying to decide on a way to attach these 2 things to use and an EDC. I've found that using a key ring is too bulky and I can't think of a way to tie a lanyard that will suit me. I'm considering using dog tag chain. What do all of the spydie folks think?

Thanks,

I use a ball chain neck rig for my lime green Jester and a Photon II microlight. Perfect combo.
I am also considering to attach a Spy Capsule (or similar) to go with the Photon and Jester. Tad gear has an interesting one <a href="http://www.tripleaughtdesign.com/tad_li ... m">here</a>

Hi Clay
What about using a strip of Kydex. Form it so the Jester and the light can be pressed in from each side. Then a strap of para-cord, and you got a neck-sheat.

These little BUGS will slice, dice and make you look twice. VOX.

Clay :

I used the ball chain that comes with nail
clippers for BOTH my Jester & Ladybug, either
one of those & my blue "Gamma" light & I'm ready for nearly anything. ( Oops! forgot about my Cricket! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)

Dumb question: Is paracord T-550 (parachute) cord?

Linda,
Yes, good paracord should be the same stuff 550 is. Should have an outer sheath that is tightly woven and an inner core of 7 (usually) white strings. Great stuff.

Patogordo,
If you have a military surplus store or good camping/outdoors store they may have 550/Paracord. Or catalogs like US Cav, or Brigade Quartermaster will have some. If you only need a little e-mail me you addr and I can drop a few feet of in the mail for you. I usually buy it by the spool. Like I said Great Stuff.

PsychGrad,
Sorry, should of answered you first. Ball chain form a local hardware store, slipped through a length of 550/Para sheath, mated to a Turquoise Photon II is my suggestion. Ball chain for the flexability and easy adding and subtracting to it nature. Cover it in 550/Para to cut the shineness, quiet it and keep it from scratching anything (if its in you pocket, or it can keep the ball chain from pulling at the hairs on your neck, if you wear it that way). The Turquoise Photon II for good night vision protection versus area illumination and the II has the ability to lock on. Plus LED mini lights Rock for small EDC lights that will last.

Oh and dePaul's idea of that Spy Capsule, right on.

I think I've talked enough.

Thanks for all of the great ideas. I'll probably go with the ball chain. Covering the chain with paracord is an excellent idea zabrewolf.

Thanks,

Quite interesting. I have a small knife that has a red microlight incorporated in the handles. Looks like a tiny switchblade but the button only turns on the light <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Maybe <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> might consider doing such thing some day.

Happy to help. Hope it works out for you. Don't forget to melt the ends after you thread the ball chain through it. I find it easier to thread into para cord w/o the ends melted.

Dialex,

Spyderco did have something like that. It wasn't under their name though and lacked the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> hole. I was from a company they own in Japan. Moki?? I think. Can another <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>fan help me here with the name?

*!!Firefly!!*

Thankx Jeff

Also Java mentioned on another post and it reminded me <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> put it out under the company name G Sakai, or they had bought G Sakai. That part I'm unsure of. I haven't gotten a copy of the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> book yet.
