Your tale of your friends death illustrates my point much better than than anything that I could ever say. Flying the rebel flag is much like jabbing an old wound. This source of "pride" is also a source of pain to blacks and others who are offended by the enslavement of the black man. Your friend certainly didn't deserve the treatment he got but it sure shows that blacks are extremely sensitive to displays of prejudice and hatred. Why do it? It would be best for everybody to find a source of pride in the U.S. flag and not fly a flag that divides us, no matter how the flyer feels about it. Racists should keep their feelings to themselves. JMO.
