Jim, referring to the second photograph of your Strider GB...

On the clip side of the knife, is that a Paul Bos heat treatment logo towards the bottom of the tang (it'll be a stamp with "BOS" and flames trailing from it)? If so, and if I've done my homework right, I believe that makes your GB an oldie, but a goodie.

Not sure when Strider stopped putting that stamp on its blades (seems like there was some history about it in the "FAQ" section on the Strider web site), but apparently it's considered a cool marking to have.

I personaly don't care for the knife. But I can see why others would like it.

I wish I had kept my Strider SNG, it was the most solid knife I have ever had. Though it was just to expensive for my taste, id love to get one again someday.

I have a few Striders. Two SnG's, an HS, and an PS. I want to get a SmF sometime.

I used to have a GB, I loved the knife but it was just so insanely big to carry in a pocket. Not long, just round. Now granted it had the rounded G-10 handles too. The one fun thing about the knife was you giggled every time you handled it. If you like the blade but want something more portable... The Emerson Super SOFCK (tanto) fits the bill. Or get a Strider SmF tanto.

Why do people like Striders? Well some people think Hummers are cool. Big strong looking, with sharp angles. This will always excite many of us.

And in reality, why do any of us buy "uber high end goods?" Because it is not just the product, but the exclusivity that comes from "being in the club." You gotta pay for semi-custom knife, plain and simple. The longer you hang around knives the more you get drawn these kinds of blades.

Often the topic comes up... Are Striders/Chris Reeves/insert company here... Worth it? Yes and no... Depends on your perspectives and what you are really looking for. Consider right now, there is a guy standing at Wal-Mart asking if a $100 Spyderco Military is really worth it...

I'll have to shoot some pics of the other side.
This one doesn't have the Gunner Grips, it's the normal ones. The Ti side is flamed/striped like most of them and is laser-etched with "Usual Suspects Network". She's a keeper. I got this knife from a very, very good friend.

Congrats! Very Nice Score indeed! Looking forward to the pics! I think when I buy my first Strider I will stick with the flame striped ti so it won't tear up my pants ;) lol Plus it looks sweet!

I've never tried the GG handles, but I can imagine they'd be **** to get out of the pants in a hurry, given the many "nooks 'n crannies" that they exhibit, lol!

I actually wasn't even in the market for a USN SnG; I like the "plain vanilla" versions best because that way, when I scratch them all to ****, I don't feel badly about it. But my buddy sent this one to me as a gift, and I'm so touched by his generosity that this one's a keeper. It will be used just as any other knife that I own.

I have no safe queens; if I can't bring myself to use one of my knives, they're usually traded or sold. To me, a knife I can't use is not something I normally keep around. There are a few exceptions, but not many.

It definitely is a fine knife! Glad to hear your a user ;) I figured I would have a hard time using my Forum Knives and my Dodo, but honestly using and carrying them is what makes them even more special! I guess I consider it "bonding time" and it makes me appreciate the knife both in design and function :) I know I won't ever sell them, so why let them die in the box!
Even though I do use them all, I take care of them all extremely well! I like to keep them looking as good as possible! I know scratches are inevitible, but hey they are character marks right ;)

The GG handles look so cool, but the flamed ti looks just as good and your right all those nooks and crannies would definitely rip something up lol

Strider makes some nice folders but i'm more interested in their Fixed Blades. I was thinking about getting the Buck Strider Collab but it's 420 steel for the blade so i'm kinda thrown off by that. Then again i've never had a bad buck yet. I dunno i'll have to let it sit awhile longer when i stop buying spyders IF I STOP

The Strider GB is a nice looking blade. After buying my Emerson CQC-7A I'm liking tantos even more. How thick is the liner on that knife, looks pretty beefy in the pics.

I don't have any technical specs on the liner, but it's freakin' thick. Thicker than many knife blades.

Most people who own an AR or GB testify that they're more like frame locks that happen to be covered with a scale.

Spyder, you'll love the SnG. Just the right size, perfect for carry and general use. The frame lock is insanely secure and the drop-point blade is great for all-around chores.
