It's a hint of possible discontinuation. They haven't made any official word so I would think there is quite a bit of stock left (someplace).

Once the give the notice (right around the beginning of the year), models are usually available at discount price for 6-12 months. I would just take this current price break as an incentive to buy one if you ever wanted it before.

VashHash wrote:Another reason i love the rock salt. It reminds me of a knife i wanted but the knife i wanted was S30V and they wanted 350 for it. It looks real similar but S30V will rust eventually. I'll sacrifice some edge retention for a better knife in my opinion I know the ergos are much better on this knife anyway and i also get an extra inch of actual cutting edge
Glad you got to pick one up VH.

Another thing to consider is that H1 won't hold an edge like S30V or the other hard steels but as some have mentioned it will bend far before it will chip/snap, etc. Being hollow-ground it retains all of H1's natural flexibility in the blade spine for chopping with a "work hardened" edge from the grinding process.

Really it's the best of all worlds and a specific reason why hollow-ground blades are not always a bad thing.

At that price, I may just have to pull the trigger on a second one. Mine has seen some decent use and the blade is all scratched up as well as a couple of dings on the edge due to careless use around concrete. Might be nice to have a brand new one again and for that price, well.... :D

Ordered one today. It'd be nice if it shows up for the weekend, but given the backlog that the Shoppe has, I'm betting it'll be longer. I hate waiting.

Yower, your wait may not be too long after all. They just got a huge shipment of Rocks this past Friday...mine was already shipped on Monday of this week...keep your eyes peeled for the mail knifebro....Enjoy! Doc :D

excellent news about their new stock. hopefully the order i placed on saturday will be along shortly :D

do they send you an e-mail when it's shipped, or do you have to track your order on their site?

*really* looking forward to it - they'll be the only FB spydies i own (apart from my 2 lum tantos-but they're safe queens), but i mean to put one of them to good use.

also, i know it's probably a simple question, but i can't work out what IWB stands for - please enlighten me :)

I believe you will receive a shipping confirm from the source they use (I think UPS) with tracking number. Ours arrived on time via tracking number and shipping confirm and then we received a notice from the website saying, "Your order has been processed and shipped".

Point is, if a delay is due they should contact you about it via email. Customer service is great but the shopping cart automated email is a bit sluggish. Just remember that if you place your order and someone else has bought one ahead of you, you might be on the next shipment.

I believe Rock Salts are FLYING out the door. I bought mine out of guilt and my brother (who loves the design) bought three.
