Spyderco Urban Wood/Walnut Handles

#1

Post by davide »

Hi,

I've read that Spyderco planned on released extra handle options for the Urban like walnut (http://www.britishblades.com/forums/sho ... stcount=10), does anyone know when/if these are going to come out?

Delica and Endura are great knives! They're the low priced crack samples that'll get you hooked on spyderco! Feed the need!

You posted a link from February 2007, did you see that? I wonder if the old plan for different handles is still in process.

Yes, I noticed that it was awhile back. I wasn't sure if that meant the idea had been scrapped or is taking longer than expected.

The whole "Slipit" project is moving steadily. The UK and Urban are currently available with different blade shapes. We've recently introduced UK versions with a "drop-point" blade and a serrated "Rescue" blade. Slipits are growing, albeit slowly. We think the Hi-tech materials raise the price a bit higher than many would like.

The next step is to offer a lower cost version. FRN scale, Gin 1 or CTS-BD1 blade steel.

Once the line is moving with sufficient numbers, then we can consider making more exotic handles for the higher cost versions.

Thanks for the update, Sal. If there's anyone willing to mod a slipit with aftermarket wooden handles on this board please chime in on this thread. I really dig my Opinel and EKA Swede 88, and think a slipit in a nice bubinga or birch handle would be great.
