Newbie Question...

Hello all... This is my first posting on any knife forum so if I seem to speak Newbish, forgive me.

Does anyone know why Spyderco doesn't offer a partially serrated G-10 Police model? I have both the G-10 and C07PS models but a partially serrated G-10 model would be hard to beat. I'd love it as an EDC.

Oh, and I picked up a Tenacious partially serrated model. I purchased it through eBay and had never seen one in person so I wasn't expecting much, considering its made in China. But when I got it... OH MY. Being impressed is an understatement. I can't say how the 8Cr13MoV blade will perform over time but I have no complaints thus far as it is my EDC at present.

Anyone else have any opinions on the Tenacious or 8Cr13MoV?

My only thought would be that partial serrated is generally the poorest selling edge type. Which is not to say it may not be offered at a later date on the Police III.

As for the Tenacious, it's an excellent value for the money. The steel is not a "super steel", but from all user reports it's a darn good one.

Many people place it at or slightly above AUS8 steel in terms of edge holding. Some people think it's someplace between AUS8 and VG10.

Regardless, it's a very nice price point steel in a world where some manufacturers are still touting AUS8 in $60+ models. The Tenacious is a value in it's own league.

I agree with you about the Tenacious. My work brings me in contact with lots of fishing reels, 95 per cent of which are now made in China, Taiwan, Korea etc. Some are better than others, but ALL are better than anything you could buy even 20 years ago in terms of fit, finish and performance. Far Eastern engineers are highly skilled, and leaving aside the ethics of slave wages, they can produce anything to any specification – tell them what you want, and specify the materials (and exercise strict quality control) and you will get the goods. The reason the Tenacious is such a great knife is that Sal insisted on high specification, including the steel. Okay, it’s not top-bracket, but it’s still good, in fact I find it sharpens a lot easier than the CPMS30V on my UK Penknife, which I have always had trouble with, even with a Spyderco Sharpmaker. Anyway, welcome to the forum – you’ll find a great bunch of guys only too willing to help with knife – and sometimes life – problems!

The Tenacious I have is a Combo edge and it is way more knife than I expected for the money.Now all I need is a Persistance.
