with the cashback from BING and unfortunately tax of $123 + $99 for shipping it would cost $1582 delivered for a 73" new TV. i have an older big model Mitsubishi 65" which i have liked but it is almost 9 years old and the wife wants a new one for the upcoming football season :D anybody here have one of these?

All I can say is that I would LOVE to watch some football games on that :D .

It is a decent TV if size is paramount. If you are just wanting to get the most tv for your dollar at that price range you will get a much better picture with a LCD or plasma.

The way that site looks has me wondering if TigerDirect bought the name or something, looks identical to their site.

If you like DLP why not! I much prefer plasma followed by LCD but some people like rear projection.

Tony,

Im a huge SONY fan, been one for along time. If you have the funds I would go for this, you cant get much better with a TV like this mounted on the wall with the cords hidden inside the wall

I didn't know projection sets were still being made. I think they're getting towards the end of their life cycle. Of your two choices, I'd go with the LG LCD. If you do go with DLP, you should probably stock up on a couple spare bulbs, because they may become scarce before you're ready to retire the TV.

The current economic climate has been pretty tough on TV manufacturers. I would have recommended Pioneer plasma, because they're some of the best looking TV's available, but Pioneer is bailing out of the business early next year. It's a shame that such a great product can't compete.

Internet site is just an outfit that bought the Circuit City name. From what I understand, they do not honor any of the old Circuit City extended warranty contracts. That, by itself, doesn't really mean anything, but I'd certainly do some heavy duty Googling and find out how reliable they are before plunking down any money. Spydercos aren't the only things being cloned in China. ;) Call me silly but for anything that expensive I'd rather deal with a brick and mortar, even if it means paying a few bucks more.

Tony a few tips,

Plasma will have the best picture but if you have alot of sunlight in the room its going to be in, they have a glass reflection, they use alot more electricity and can get very hot, theyve also been known to heat up small rooms, but again they have the best picture

LCD you wont find in huge huge sizes but never have a reflection at all plus dont put off alot of heat

I have two 32inch Sony bravia's for the room's and a 46 inch bravia for the living room, i love them, just wish i bought them now, instead of 2 years ago when i paid probably around 6k for all 3, now you can find all 3 for around 3k

the best picture ive ever seen was a Pioneer ELITE Plasma, i was blown away watching sports in HD, but from what ive read above they might not be around to long, sad for such good quality

Now you need to buy a PS3 for a Blu Ray player and hook up with Netflix.
Get your HDMI cables and wall bracket from monoprice.com
Trust me on this one! ;)

speaking of Blu-ray...what is the big difference between that and a dvd player? i reaally don't feel like getting all new discs of my movies at this point. the salseman offered one to me for $100 with the TV purchase.

as far as the stand i needed something that had an open design becuase it will sit right in front of a vent and i dont want that blocked off so i got this one

http://www.target.com/Stand-Rich-Solid- ... and&page=1

to make matters even more expensive when i sarted cleaning off my old TV that was in the corner i notcied that my subwoofer speaker had completely dry rotted, it is ovewr 20 years old so i guess it is time for a new one..thiis is what i am looking at right now, now i have to convince the wife that we need it..lol

edit..changed the sub to this

Blu-ray offers both better video and better audio if you have an AVR that can handle it. The difference in video is like the difference between photo prints from a 2 megapixel camera vs. a 5 megapixel camera. The difference in audio is like the difference between MP3's and CD's. Standard DVD's played on a good DVD player will still look and sound very good. Blu-ray just looks and sounds better. How much better is very much in the eyes and ears of the beholder.

It's the pricing...Pioneer makes great plasmas and are my 1st choice but with the plasma king ( panasonic)prices are hard to beat.
