Operator at a sour gas plant with my Second Class steam ticket and studying to write another couple of exams on my First (have 1 of 8 papers). Good job and if anyone knows young folk wondering what to do for a career, the industry currently needs people.

Have been a vollie firefighter for 23 or some odd years and used to spend alot of time at fireschool either taking classes or instructing. Many years I'd put on a minimum of 2 classes/year at home so our guys wouldn't have to travel the 690kms or 400 miles to school.

Greetings I am a supervisor for the Veterans Affairs department. My great group of folks starts the process when you or a loved one files for Compensation and/or Pension benefits.

I can answer most questions relating to Veterans Benefits. I say most, because the new GI Bill just came out and I know zip about it. But I can help as much as I can, I know people.

I work for a marine towing company in the Chicago area as a deckhand on one of their towboats. My captains license was finally renewed and I hope to start training to run one of the company's vessels on the Illinois River.

My career, however, is a commercial fisherman. I hope at some point to get back east and get my own lobster boat.

Right now though I have a good knife using job (and a good proving ground for knives) and work 21 days on a live-aboard tug and get 21 days off between trips, so I get a lot of time to travel.

Building maintenance. I get to deal with everything from a dripping faucet to replacing a damaged ceiling. There are two of us taking care of 134 apartments, so we stay busy.

That's what my Dad does. He looks after a 20 room lodge and staff houses, keeps him running off his feet most times. I can just imagine how 134 apartments would be. :)

I'm an internist or "hospitalist" if you will. I take care of sick people in the hospital every day. Think "House" without the pill-popping or the teaching responsibilities.

Chicken Gynecologist!

Well, actually, I inspect freshly killed chicken carcasses at a poultry plant for anything which makes them "unfit for human consumption". (When I find one, it goes in a Condemned barrel)

Jobs I have done/been in the past: county fire and rescue (mostly firefighting), EMT-A, ambulance driver, pizza maker, dish washer (a good dish washer will never starve), framed houses, HVAC, stocker, truck driver (heavy haul - oversized loads), combat engineer, demolitions specialist, paratrooper, Lawn care, car salesman, and the list goes on...
18 :bug-red 's and counting so far... :winking-tongue
