Excellent! Welcome to Spydieville, Donavon.

What are some of the knives you'll be using in the competition?

Welcome and I was wondering the same thing. Do you use modified production models or fully custom?

First of all I want to apologize if I started this thread in the wrong area.

To answer some the questions, I use a handmade knife of my making for the competitions. The steel is CPM-M4 hardened to Rc 60-62. The steel starts 3/8" thick. The finished knife weighs 1 lb 9 oz. The max size for competition knives in BladeSports is 10" blade, 15" OAL and 2" wide. Mine is just under max size as are most of the knives. Please feel free to ask any questions. If ya'll have not checked it out yet the BladeSports site is http://www.bladesports.org

Oh by the way, I was very excited to see Spyderco come out with the CPM-M4 mule. The knives I make for myself for EDC, Carry, and hunting are all CPM-M4, if you haven't guessed, I like it. I haven't made a folder out of it, I have only made 3 folders and that was a couple of years ago, before I started competitions. Hopefully, Spyderco will beat me to it. And I know this will be asked, the folder I carry is a waved Endura. I hope all of this provokes some more questions.

That sounds like a lot of fun, knife cutting competitions. Did you make your knife in any other types of steel to look for a potential new steel? Also I don't have that cool banner, "This thread is worthless without pics" banner, but pics of your knife would be cool.

I used S7, then 5160, and now M4. I still use 5160 for protoypes. There are some pics on the flickr site in my signature.

Here are a few links to Youtube of some cutting. Some are me some are other cutters. Enjoy.

Thanks for the kind post Ed.
