Looking for a PE EDC

#1

Post by Deadeye008 »

Like the title says, I am looking for a PE EDC. I currently have a Dragonfly, Tenacious, and a Pacific Salt. I like all these but they are all SE and so I would like to get a PE spydie that I can carry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :D

Delica and Endura are great knives! They're the low priced crack samples that'll get you hooked on spyderco! Feed the need!

Caly Jr PE in ZDP ;)

it'll cut as long as the serrated edges you're used to, and the blade shape will be familiar.

My vote would be:

Higher price: ~$100-$150
caly3 Carbon Fiber ZDP-189
Sage Carbon Fiber
Para-military
Manix 2

low to mid priced: ~$30-$60
Delica 4 VG-10
Native I
Native III
Salt I
Tasman

Not sure what your requirements are and price range but I just used my best judgment based on what you currently own. You could always get PE versions of what you already have too. Let us know what you decide on.....and post pics!!!

Lots and lots of options. It would help if you'd give a desired blade size and price range.

Some good ones: Centofante III, Rookie, Lum Chinese, Para, Sage, Stretch, Delica, PE versions of any of the ones you have...
Newest :spyder: in hand: Halloween Handle Hap40 Endura and Delica.

Really depends on what you want in a knife. Manix 2, FRN or CF Stretch II, CF Walker lock or titanium RIL Sage, Caly 3, Police 3, Kopa, Kiwi, and the Natives are all excellent knives.

Get a Delica. Great price, virtually indestructible, different coloured handles, perfect EDC size that just kinda disappears in your pocket until you need it, VG-10, ZDP-189, waved if you want it, full flat grind on the foliage green G-10 (my favorite Delica so far). You can't go wrong with a Delica.

you've got a SE pacific salt -- that means you have great taste. :D

try a mili -- there's a reason it's been a cornerstone of spyderco's line-up for so long. it is definitely a knife you won't regret or outgrow. no matter how many spydies you have, it will be a vital part of your EDC for years to come.

3" blade
Low cost ($50-$100)
-Centofante 4- 2mm thick wharncliff blade will show you what a PE can really do! Great value, and easy to carry.

High cost($100+)
-Caly 3 ZDP- a beautiful gents folder with superb ergos and incredible cutting perfromance. Rides very discreetly in the pocket.

4" Blade

Low
Endura Wave- not the highest level of cutting performance, but decent, and offers the awesomeness of the wave feature, which is super addicting. Down the road, send in to Tom Krein for his famous Regrind- the knife will then be a hair whittling lightsaber that's easy to sharpen.

High
Orange Military- No knife offers the cutting performance of the Military, and Orange is a great color for it- utilitarian and Sheeple friendly + will be worth more in trade than a black Millie down the road.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Frn stretch. Real handle, big blade, lightweight. :)

Vg10 pe's are scarce at the moment seemingly, im sure that will change soon. If you like blue and super steel patience will get you a zdp189 for a good price when its released.

The newly released Manix 2 and FRN Stretch are both possibilities. One of them should suit you nicely, depending on your preferences as to weight, lock, grind, handle material etc.

They are ALL available with a PE somewhere. So you just need to tell us what you want as far as size, handle material, lock/less/type, choil/less, screws/pins, clip position/type, steel, price and sometimes color. It will be fairly easy from there.
