Leafstorm Overview

My own little tour of the Kevin Wilkins designed Leafstorm, as produced by Spyderco.

I really like this knife! I wish that I could get a custom, but will probably get the Spyderco.

Thanks for the overview!

I would like it in lefty, though.

Wait did you say bushing pivot?? I knew that was part of the custom but did not know if it was going to transfer over to the production model.

Nice!
But I can see where you are going to nick yourself on the back of the blade.
Ouch....

Oh, and great photography! As always..........

The voiceover is a great idea. Much better than the hemming and hawing that happens when talking and showing at the same time.

Funny, in the vid I can see your finger where it bit you. :)

Great overview.

I think I'm gonna pass on this one due to lack of finger choil and the sharp kick (or heel) of the blade. I will end up cutting myself all to heck with a blade like that.

Excellent review, Wouter... as professional as the knife. As gac mentioned, the voice-over is great. Interesting, information and smooth.

Thank you,
Don

Thanks for the review Wouter. I was all excited about this knife, but now I don't think I'll be getting one. It seems like an awesome blade shape that is somehow let down by a handle design that isn't quite up to par. Not Spyderco's fault as they were mearly trying to recreate Wilkens custom blade. I didn't really realize it until I seen your video and how the knife fits in the hand, certainly not up to the usual standards for Spyderco ergos.

Thanks Wouter, your videos get better and better every time, keep it up! I really liked the video overview and the Translucent G-10 is really quite different.

I am a little worried about the sharp point at the back end of the blade, I think a finger choil in the handle would have eased my worries but so be it. I'll probably pick one up anyway to try for myself. Maybe we will see this model evolve and become even better in the future

Wow.
I wanted one so badly, now I want to badly NOT have to ever purchase such a knife.... The exposed sharp corner at the base of the blade, and the lack of choil, seems to make this knife UNreal for me to use. :o
And MSRP should be expensive even for a Ti framelock knife.... WASTE

I did understand from the Spydercrew that the Leafstorm has a bushing system. I did tweak the pivot and from my experience I can verify that no matter how hard you twist the pivot, the action remained smooth.

Yep, the viewfinder has tiny lag that caused the edge to give me a little kiss in one of the shots.

Thanks for confirming. It definitely sounds like it does have a bushing pivot like the Wilkins custom and Sebenzas. It's great that Spyderco was able to carry that over to the production version.
