I`m sure glad to hear that now i stand a better chance of getting one.Usually on the sprint runs a fella has to act quick to get one before they become unavailable.Thank you for the info. :)SimpleIsGood229 wrote:Excellent news!
Vader,
This is standard production. It will be in PE, and I believe it will also come in CE.

No ZDP is not out yet, and no one really knows when it will be out.
Dare. Risk. Dream.

You're very welcome.Lord vader wrote:I`m sure glad to hear that now i stand a better chance of getting one.Usually on the sprint runs a fella has to act quick to get one before they become unavailable.Thank you for the info. :)
Something useful to keep in mind is that FRN models are never sprint runs unless that particular FRN model is pre-existing. In other words, they won't have expensive injection molds made up for the production of just a few hundred knives (H-1 Spyderhawk being an exception since the molds are already made and [presumably] paid for). Does this make sense?

I think the H1 spyderhawk being the only exception for a sprint run is because of the overwelming demand from our brother forumites. :) Yes that does make sense if there going to make the molds for this particular production they want to manufacture enough to make it worth there effort.SimpleIsGood229 wrote:You're very welcome.

Another way of looking at it is, a Sprint Run of the Spyderhawk in H-1 is no different from the ZDP-189 Sprint Runs of the Jess Horn and Calypso Jr. Different steel, perhaps a different color FRN, but the mold for the handle and the "pattern" for the blade already exist.
As for the molds, I'd imagine they're paid for ten times over, since they're the same ones which were used for the Endura 3 and Matriarch and are currently being used for the Pacific Salt. :D

Another cool aspect is that once they've made a mold, it opens up the possibility of putting a new blade shape, steel, grind etc. into that handle.SimpleIsGood229 wrote:Something useful to keep in mind is that FRN models are never sprint runs unless that particular FRN model is pre-existing. Delica 3, Merlin, Salt I, Tasman
Endura 3, Spyderhawk, Pacific, H1 Spyderhawk

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
This is good news. Of all the models Spyderco puts out I plan on picking up all
plain blade variations of the Stretch. This being the 3rd one out makes it a must have. :) So far, (1) SS & (2) CF Stretch II's.
Looks like there may be many more to come! M4 & S90v would be nice.
Now to wait for the hupla to die down so I can pick a couple up. :D
