C41ps native 5/06 (ef) without boye dent

Post by supermatch38sa »

Hi everybody,
I was wondering why my stainless handled native C-41 with a VG-10 steel blade I received today doesn´t have the boye dent that earlier SS models did have. The box says E F which is as you all know means made/boxed on may 2006. Does anyone have any answers? I think this is one for you deacon, kind of sure you´ll know!!!! :D

Just checked both my AUS-10 PE Native II's, one of which is pictured below, and neither has the Boye dent. Am not sure what's making you think they had the dent, but, based on mine, I'm inclined to think that assumption is incorrect.

The plain edge (PE) C41 Native IIs did not have a Boye dent. However, the thread title says that this is a C41 P/S (assuming partially serrated or "combo edge"). These were in production until just recently (unlike the plain edge variety) and may have Boye dents on them.

I never saw a native II with boye dent.

At least since the '05 catalog a boye dent has been shown, and the last catalogs showing the native with VG-10 blade steel show them clearly with a boye dent.

I saw those, but Spyderco catalog illustrations occasionally differ from the actual knife. I guess the two real questions are, do any SS Natives with Boye dents actually exist and, if so, what's the earliest one for which there is "proof of life". I can't recall having ever seen one, but my interest in them was pretty much confined to the PE ones, so I just may not have paid attention to it if I did.

Hi Paul,
I guess we will have to keep an eye open on stainless handled C41´s, it´s just plain curiosity but I want to find out.
Thanks a lot for spending time and effort on my silly questions. :D

Jose
