Time with Sal Glesser

#1

Post by raven »

Hi All, What did I bring back from the 2009 Blade Show??? Knowledge!!! ;) . As many of you know I had a design that was built by GTC Knives. I wanted to show it to Sal and crew and had the pleasure and opportunity to speak with Sal. WOW ...what an incredibly smart man :) .

He is a very approachable gentleman and is very friendly. He'll take the time to speak with everyone and share what he knows. I spoke with Sal wanted to get his opinion on the design, but instead brought somehthing back that has a lot more value ... again Knowledge. I learned more from him in the 15 to 20 minutes that we talked than I could've during the 2 and half days I was there at the show. I got the oppportunity to learn some things from the man himself. He gave me tips on how to present a design that I had never thought of or could have ever thought of. What I loved about talking with Sal, is that he says what's on his mind and he doesn't "surgar coat" things. He says it just as he sees it and that's just the way I like it.

If anyone ever wants to learn about the knife industry, how it works, and you have the opportunity to talk to Sal ... BY ALL MEANS, DO SO!!! This has been an experience and opportunity that I'll never forget. A True Class Act and A company that does lead by example. Talk about about a ROLE MODEL for the industry ... There is a lot other companies can learn from Sal and Spyderco.

I did get the chance to see all of the new prototypes ...AWESOME New designs coming out :D . BTW, before Sal and I got into the meat of our conversation ... He asked if I got "bug". I just simply said "No". Sal reaches into his back pocket and hands me a tiny box containing a "bug". What a Class Act. Just thought I'd share ... thanks for listening. Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

Sal, Thank You for the opportunity, taking the time to speak with me and For Educating Me A Bit. It was a True Pleasure Sir and I'll Never Forget It ;) .

God Bless :)

I concure! Sal Glesser is an amazing guy... Ok seriously all the Glessers are! I consider it a blessing everytime I get to talk to any of them... I ran into Gail and Sal at dinner on Thrusday night. Just said hello, but didnt want to bother them since they were enjoying a meal. So later on they come over and said hello, shared a few designs with them. Got some great comments.

Gil, It was also great to meet you! That knife you designed it top notch!.

Your knife didn't have copper handles did it? I was really impressed by whoever owns that knife.

Hey Brad, It was a PLEASURE to meet you as well. I just wish we would've had a bit more time to talk and to look at your knives a bit more. Thank You for the kind words on my design ... means a lot coming from a talented knife maker as yourself ;) . Sal and Eric are amazing and just down right friendly and full of knife knowledge.

KSDbass, My design didn't have copper handles. If you look at my profile, I have some pix posted of the design.

Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

I got a chance to hold Raven's design and folks, it is very nice. COP PROOF! Raven you and your beautiful counterpart were a joy and blessing to meet. Bro keep at it and in this case a little stubborness will work just fine! :D I also got a chance to meet the Spyder crew and check out some great designs.

I wish there was more time because there were so many vendors and knives and THINGS to see. The weekend flew by so fast. Take care all and God Bless!

Hey Bro, IT WAS A PLEASURE TO FINALLY MEET YOU ;) !!! I really enjoyed the bit of time we had to talk. Like you said the time just flew by and there was so much to see. I wish we would've had more time. I did get to meet you, Tricod, the Spyderco Crew.

Thanks for the Kind Words Bro. You Know Me ... Stubborn and Don't Know How To Give Up or Give In :p :p :D !!! It's time for the testing phase of this design and this will tell the whole story if it will be functional as I want it to be. Again Bro ... It was a Pleasure and Honor to meet you. Take Very Good Care, Be Safe Always, and Tell the lovely family "raven" says "Hello".

God Bless :)
