How did you make acquaintance of Spyderco?

I first saw a spydie a long time ago in a SF movie named "Screamers". As I remember, it looked like an Endura or a Police. I can't be sure, because I never heard of Spyderco those years (no offense, spydie fans, it was my loss). But I can say it was love at first sight, I said to myself "cool man, at last they made a knife that really looks like SF", and my heart was ticking faster. Imagine what I felt when I discovered the Internet, and the best in it: spyderco.com, and that the knife I saw in that movie really exists. Meanwhile I saw lots of movies featuring <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, that's why I suggested that this site should have a list of them - screenshots are optional <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

1st spyderco i saw was in a van dame movie called sudden death. Im pretty sure it was a endura or a police steel handle. when i saw it , it look cool as **** i like the round hole and sleek look the blade had to it.

About 9 years ago I was doing some research into good quality knives and came across the Spyderco brand. At the time I wasn't so sure about the wedge shape that was on nearly all their knives at the time.

3 years ago when I wanted another good quality work knife, spyderco was top of my list.

I first heard of Spyderco from my cousin, a
policeman, when he showed me an ad in Soldier of Fortune magazine in 1981( this was in the days I longed for a switchblade ; my views were to change later )my cousin told me
it ( a Spydie ) was just as one-handed as a switch. Later,in 1983 when I joined the Army, I remember salivating over the C01 "worker" but
with my army pay and bad habits accuired in my youth and carried on in the army, I could
nery afford one. Then, in 1992 I purchased a
"dragonfly" and was NEVER the same. It's only
been since 1998 that I began collecting Spydies and 2000 when I discovered this forum

I'd seen various films over the years with an actor using a knife that had a curious 'hole' in the blade, I didn't know they were most probably <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s.

Last summer, after browsing many online knife shoppes, I bought my first <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s ~ a Spydercard and Spydewrench.

A friend of mine had a delica about 10yrs ago, and I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Since then, I have made another friend whose EDC is a lightweight PE Endura.
After all of this peer pressure, I had to see what all of the hulabaloo was about...
Been <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> addicted ever since.

I've seen Spyderco knives for years. Up until a few years ago, I thought they were POS overpriced junk, sad but true. It was due to the fact that I listened to a few dealers that I shopped at that preferred Benchmade and a few other brands, and for some reason they disliked Spydies<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I consider this a huge loss for myself and for the many other people who shop at those stores. A year or two ago, someone at BFC talked me into taking a Spydie in a trade, I was amazed at what I'd been missing, and now many knives later, the bug remains at the top of my list of excellence.

My first brush with Spyderco was through an advertisement on Blade Magazine in '86. Never thought much about the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s till I laid my hand on a C-17 Catcherman a couple of years ago. The knives are solid and constantly improving.. Its a marvel to watch how certain models evolve through the years. And I guess that things really worked out because Spyderco really listens to the End Line User.. <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

In the summer of 2001 I was looking for a good tool. In the outdoor-shop they had a lot of boring tools (Leatherman, Victorinox, etc.) and one that looked very, very beautiful: the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> SpydeRench. I immediately fell in love.
Almost on the same time I read in Thomas Harris' book 'Hannibal' about Dr. Lecter buying SpyderCo's.
Since then I have bought two SpyderCo's, and I will buy more in the future.

The book by Thomas Harris - Hannable. I really had no intrest in knives before then and currently have no intrest in knives other than Spyderco, with the exception of my Boy Scout knife. (I am an adult leader of my son's Boy Scout troop). My first knife was the Harpy. Then I got the Ltwt Calypso Jr, which is my EDC. I got the 204 Sharpener and the book. Then, the Ladybug (too little but man does it cut), and recently the Tim Wegner (big old thick blade, I love the sound when it opens).

I really want a Rescue Jr and a Civ. My wife thinks I've gone mad and sometimes I do too.

I needed a knife for work and other applications. I went down to Buffalo Beano's (they carry just about anything you don't normally find in a small shop), and they had a Native Lightweight CE. It fit my hand perfectly, but I was a little bit put off by the serrations. I decided it would work well, and bought it. Then, when I became eager to learn a little more about the knife, I looked around and found this site. Haven't looked back since.

On the early nineties I was browsing knives at a gunshop in Spain and I found a SS Mariner. I bought it and became infected with <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Virus.

I was searching for a small knife to carry at University. After a lot of Internet looking, I happened upon the mini Dyad and like the looks. I stopped by a shop near my house, but all they had was the Endura. I tried it, liked it, bought it, and the rest is <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>History. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

An instructor was demoing the various methods of opening a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> and I know right away that the hole was better then the stud.

I actually learned about Spyderco from their 204 sharpmaker. I tried out the sharpmaker on some of my knives and fell in love with this sharpening system. I thought to myself that if their sharpmaker was this good their knives must be great and after my first knife (Jess Horn) I could not stop buying them. My collection of Spydercos has grown to 10 in less than a year.
