new to forum - small question
I'm sure this question has been asked a million times on this forum, but I'm the new guy so I'll ask again. Which small clipit folder do you recommend for everyday carry in a conservative business office environment? I began my use of the clipit style with a Delica which I loved and lost. I then went thru several Endura and Rescue folders in the lanscape industry. Then I became a Benchmade fan and have several of their fine folders. The problem is my current carry knife is a Benchmade 940 Osborne Axis Lock and the 3.5 inch black teflon coated partially serrated blade seems a little too menacing for my work peers. I tried the little Kershaw Ken Onion Chive but could not get comfortable with the Speed Safe action (and I'm not a fan of liner locks). So, I have returned to my beloved Spyderco and have it narrowed down to the following: 1)Delica leightweight; 2) Dragonfly in either fibergalss or stainless steel handles; or 3) the Cricket. Which do you recommend and why? Thanks from the new guy.
gee, you may be a new guy in the forums, but it sounds like you aren't new to knives..
I have a dragonfly, and I think it's great. Go for it, it's cheap enough.
And everyone recommends the Native. Never had one, but I would get one if I didn't blow my dough on a Benchmade R&R.
then again, i'm not that great with knives, so I can't expect to give you great advice on anything.
it's a matter of preferance, isn't it? hold both of them, and decide for yourself, i think.

You definitely know your blades, Ibbobh! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I would recommend one more that you haven't mentioned, the Mouse. It's a touch pricy, around $90 USD, but it's well worth it. If any coworker takes offense at a 1.875 inch blade, you'd be better off not carrying.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Out of the ones that you have listed, I would probably go with the Dragonfly with s.s. handles.
Out of all the small Spydies, I would (and have) buy and carry the Mouse. It is a little more expensive, and a little thicker, but the Mouse doesn't understand that it is a small knife. It wants to be used for all jobs, big or small, and its name and slightly odd shape help make it less threatening to those around you.
Long term, you best bet is to buy both! :-)

Welcome to the forum. I also prefer the Dragonfly above the other knives mentioned including the Mouse. The most important point in its favour is its thin, flat ground blade. The stainless Dragonfly is the most elegant of the small <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s, with the obvious exception of the CF version.

If you have to have a clip, I'd suggest getting the Cricket or, if you feel it's worth it, the Mouse. Again, it is pricey for a knife its size, but it is well worth it as a small EDC for box-cutting, letter-opening, and the like.
Personally, I don't like the Dragonfly, but that's not to say noone likes it. The leaf blade is a little less menacing and the knife is sized pretty well, but the clip is somewhat flimsy on the FRN version, and the handle just isn't shaped right for my hands.
My current small EDCs are a Calypso Jr. LWT PE, which fits perfectly in my hand and isn't as threatening as, say, a Delica, and a Salsa, which has gotten a couple of remarks of, "It's cute!" when I pull it out. Cute it may be, but it'll tackle some big cutting jobs with ease. That belly to the blade allows you to just glide the edge across a piece of tape or paper to easily cut it, instead of having to get the point involved.
If a clip isn't necessary, take a look at the Jester, available in both Micarta and FRN, and the Ladybugs, which come in any color of FRN you can think of. No clips, but they're sized just right to put on a key ring, and the Jester, I know, is very comfortable to hold for light jobs, especially with a few keys to provide a bigger handle.
Wise man say, forgiveness is divine. Remember that when your <img src="http://www.spyderco.com/forum/spyder.gif" border=0> bites you!

Welcome to the forums.
Currently own all 3 of your choices...
I use my Delica as a beater, and should have busted it many times(like dropping it off the roof of our shed, multiple times), prying, screwdriver(no, I did not say that). It's one tough little knife.
Dragonfly, SS/PE... what can I say? I love it. It's small enough not to be threatening, and doesn't act like a 2". I find the grip is nice in my hand(though my friend finds it small). I have mine doe to a 30degree edge, topped with a couple 40degree strokes. It'll take down anything I can throw at it, considering it's size.
The cricket, one of the most usefull blade designs out there. I have one of the elusive tufram models. I bought mine SE for work, and love it. I used it for just under a year, owned it for just over a year.
The only prob with the cricket, is that some ppl find it offensive, just b/c it looks nasty. The only nasty thing about it is it's bite. Love the weight, love the curve, love the bite. Dig in with the tip and pull, allowing the curve to cut boxes for you.
Good luck on your search.

Ibbobh,
I Forgot!! Welcome to the Spydie forums!! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
For another knife choice you could get a SS Delica and have the handle engraved or jeweled. Just an idea. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
