NO! BAD BUG! BAD BUG!

I need help.



I have made a recent investment in Spyderco's second generation Renegade. No, that's not my problem, it's a beautiful blade. The issue I'm having is that it's as stiff as straight bourbon. I have one of the original releases from Golden and that one opens with the smallest flick of the wrist. I've tried continually drenching the thing in Ballistol, but it just won't work. I don't want to loosen the hinge and create unwanted bladeplay. On top of that, the sucker keeps biting. Whatever shall I do?

Questions? Comments? Ideas? Jokes at my expense? ANYTHING?!?!



Please help.

Take time with it, it will loosen up hopefully.

Also with taking time with it you will learn of the most convenient way to hold as to prevent it from biting your fingers <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Give it a little time, it'll learn to like you, then it'll follow you around like a little <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>pup.

My SS Native was the same. It took around 150 <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Drops, with regular wipedowns, but whatever was sticking cleared out and now it's smooth as silk.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Likewise my Calypso Jr II SS. Sometimes they just crave a lot of love and petting like a good dog.

Well dude ~ You'll need to "break" it in with a little bit of "wear" on the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s pivot, it'll much smoother.. Lockbacks are solid as they are reliable.. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hmmm, I am not having the problem with my 2nd gen Renegade that I got at the Blade Show. I think I might start kicking myself for not geting two!

Just Like a high quality semi-auto pistol, it will work better once broken in.

Remember the little <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> doesn't bite becaue it is mad at you. A <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> bites to remind you it has a purpose and wants to be used.
