Which one for EDC?
Which one for EDC?
I have found a new method to determine which Spyderco to use as my EDC. I'll narrow the decision down to my two fav's and then I will let my family have a vote I have a wife and two children. They each pick their favorite and the majority wins. Does anyone else have a particular way to decide?

Oh heck, I don't get too technical about it.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I guess it just really depends on the day, and what I'll be doing. If its a "work" day, then I'd pack my Calypso Jr. in SE for my EDC. If going to the University, I'd pack something like the Centofante or Blue Lum.

Complex?? Technical?? Come on guys, this is a decision of great import and requires intense deliberation coupled with a fail-safe plan and the blade must match each special occasion.
Say for work, I usually select the G10 Rookie SE - a good medium blade that's up to any task.
As an EDC for around town, I usually select the G10 Rookie SE - a good medium sized blade that is fairly sheeple friendly.
For cuttin up the single-track on the Paragon, I usually select the G10 Rookie SE - a good medium sized blade that can hack a "stimp" and clear the right of way through the toughest mesquite.
For those late nights, sporting the Lady around town for an after opera jolt of java at the local House of Joe - I usually select the G10 Rookie SE - a good medium sized blade whose G10 matches the tux well, sets her Abalone scaled Mini-Mariner off well, and can sever a biscotti merely by looking at it.
So you see it's not a decision arrived at lightly. Selection must be carefully planned to match the occasion. Oh sure, I may LOOK like a one Spydie dude but hey after much calculating and egregious self-debate, the medium guy has my bases covered! Of course the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>ench goes with me on the Paragon, the Gunting drone is never a briefcase length away, and I have been seen packing a G10 Civilian SE, but for most occasions, as you may have guessed, I usually select the G10 Rookie SE.
Stay safe! Stay sharp! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Java,
What a system. I usually rotate once the current large EDC has eaten too many tires. Necklace, <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>rench, and Cricket are unchanging EDC's, except on those rare occasions when I have to dress up (BLECH). Then the Q comes out to play.

For EDC in back up form I love the pro grip. This knife had a different name at one time I dont know why it was changed but none the less its a great knife, very solid, while not upsetting none knife people. For EDC in the front pocket main position I am undecided. For years it was a police model, but lately its been a wenger ps. This is one well made all around knife.

Jeweler,
Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>land! Lot's of good info and great people here!! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I believe the other name is the Pro Venator. Both these guys carried the C13 <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>co number for a while. The Pro Grip was designed to be a lighter, less expensive version of the Pro Venator. In 1999 the Pro Griop was changed to model number C33.
Linda,
I thought you had a few Qs. Which Q is the dress up version? <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Java,
Mostly the original. If I am feeling patriotic (most of the time now) it is the flag. I've haven't had the REI one long enough to get dressed up to wear it.
