pocket knives ; the "Shabaria", I say is
rather "uncommon" in design, workmanship, and
things generally reserved for things <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>.

Yes, an appreciation for the Shabaria is something that is acquired and does not usually happen as "love-at-first-sight." It's a favorite of mine.
A word of caution: Although it has not happened to me, some people have had the clip break off near the cutout (I'm not sure if the purpose of the cutout was to allow the user to adjust the pivot screw). My theory is that the slightly rounded cutout may have weakened the clip at that point and those persons clipped the knife onto extra thick pockets. I don't know if this is something unique only to the original model but I thought that I should give you a "heads up" just in case.

What a coincidence!! I just took delivery on my Shabaria yesterday. Again, the knife never impressed me in pictures but the price was a bargain and I see now the error of my ways.
The half serrated blade is just wicked sharp cool. It has a sinuous appearance bordering on a fantasy design. A few spiked doo-dads and swirlys here and there and Gil Hibben would think it was his own creation. The dual liners help stiffen the handle and house the most solid liner-lock I’ve encountered on any <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>co. It locks crisply yet is easily disengaged when folding the blade. There is no trace of binding or stiff action after an overly hard snap open. Still feels unusual in the hand but I remember a Forum post from many moons past that claimed the design allowed for easily gripping it back closer to the butt end and giving you additional reach as a defensive weapon. Seems to work quite well... A Shabaria is a traditional bedouin design fixed blade knife that was used by the nomads of the Jordan River Valley in 300 A.D. Who can argue with that history??
With the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>card already to his credit I’m hoping Mr Bradichansky left some future designs somewhere before he passed on.
