Micarta Street Bowie: Yea or Nay?
Alright guys (and gals), what would y'all think of a run of Micarta-handled Perrin Street Bowies? Personally, I think that would totally rock! I've always imagined having an enlarged Street Beat.
I apologize to guitarguy, as I didn't mean to jack your Neck Bowie thread. :o

It would defintely be a great looking knife. But it would require new tooling, since it would need to be full tang to match the Street Beat. That ups the cost and reduces the chances of it happening considerably.

A micarta Bowie would be something which I would grab in a heartbeat ! The Street Beat is something I have been meaning to get for some time fo use in the kitchen and BBQ. A Bowie would be even more useful !
However, Paul makes a valid comment about feasibility. It won't happen unless the economies of scale can be validated to Sal & crew. I'm sure there will be enough here in the forums to warrant some excitement, but is it enough to warrant a full run ? or is that niche already taken up with the newly released Temp 2 and other current FB offerings ?

I'd like to see this as well.
The question (as always) is: can :spyder: sell enough to make the required investment worthwhile? Afi interest on the forums doesn't necessarily translate into significant sales.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

I would definitely vote for Yeah.
I wouldn’t think that the tooling costs would be anymore than the Temperance 2 since both are essentially new knives . I imagine it could be done in the same way as the Temperance 2 with a limited run of about 1200. It would be a custom collaboration instead an in house design so that would increase the price some but I imagine that the price would be comparable to that of the Temperance 2.
I imagine the success of the Temperance 2 would heavily influence Spyderco’s willingness to risk doing a run. I have ordered mine but have not received it yet. Hopefully we will see a Perrin Bowie 2 in the future.

FB04 Perrin and FB15 Street Beat are my favourite and probably the most used fixed blades. Street Beat is my EDC for last year and every day I carry it and every hour I use it, I like it more and more. Spyderco and Mr. Perrin did great job with these knives. Micarta Street Bowie would be awesome. With 5" VG10 blade, full-tang construction, black micarta handles, kydex or boltaron sheat with tec-lock and price somewhere near Temperance 2 I will take one for sure (probably two :) ).
