Howdy Big Spyder! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
A little Rustoleum satin black will work on the clip, and is almost a perfect match. It's a touch shiny, but flat is... well, flat. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I'd leave it as is. The wear will stablize, as you routinely hit the same area over and over. It's no big aesthetics issue, and makes the knife look broken in.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

I once thought about making sure a "knife was perfect 24-7". But then I realised that if my knives didn't look somewhat used. I wasn't doing my cutting job(s) right!!!!<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Every knife you have needs <i>at least</i> 1 scratch... the more the better!
My calypso, being the newest(the Q is only for dress, so doesn't count), was almost avoiding this.... then I reprofiled it to about 20degrees, and hit the stones...
now she looks used! Same as the SS handles... you worry about scratches, till you actually get one.
<img src=http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/372fcedb ... 8A88UxWudf> We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare... <img src=http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/372fcedb ... 8A88UxWudf>

It's like a new car: you try like **** to prevent that first ding, but after that, it doesn't hurt as much to see your knife look well-used.
It's a tool. Treat it that way.

Spyderholic,
I only wear my <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s in my front pockets, and/or belt pouch, and the black still wears off of the clips. But, they are work tools, the good (dress) ones stay in the safe and only come out on special occasions. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
