SS Cricket serration question

#1

Post by spydutch »

Greetings you all :)

I had some US$ left from a earlier sale and I wa in a postion to buy a NIB SS Cricket/SE.

I screwed up my last one in an attempt to fix the liner travel  :o

Upon opening the knife I noticed that the scallop/spikes closest to the handle were way more rounded than the rest of them. I succeeded in fixing it a little on the SM. The knife is shaving sharp now :)

However this has been the case with everyone of the 4 Crickets I bought in the past. Now I wondered if this is normal on the SS Cricket?

Do you SS Cricket/SE owners have the same?

Just curious......

All the tips on my Cricket seem the same. They come to a point with a slight rounding at the end. I have never noticed a problem with cutting performance, and it is one of my best knives.

Hello spydutch,

Here is my Cricket for you to compare to yours to see how similar the serrations are.

My Crickets appear to be somewhat the same as in Jay_Ev's picture. I think it might be a normal shape due to the blade shape.

Hi spydutch,
Mine looks almost exactly like that. The scallops are a little shallower near the handle.

It cuts like a champ! Although the Reeve lock on mine is all the way across the tang and hitting the other handle - it has been that way since I got it, but no play has developed (yet?).

Got lucky on this one for a change. Early lockup on this one.

Had to fiddle around with this one after all because the blade touched the non clip side of the handle. It appeared that the back spacer screws were locktited but not screwed on tightly enough.

Tightened and locktited the stoppin screw to a nice stiff but smooth action this afternoon.

Will let the locktite set in overnight and put the knife to edc tomorrow.

Let the Para rest for a little while ;) :D

Thanx again for all the great replies and pics you guys

I just removed the protective foil and put it in my RFP to EDC it for a while.

We'll see how it will hold up. :)
