Swick Rhino-horn (hawk-bill)?
Swick Rhino-horn (hawk-bill)?
Does anyone have any background on this unique looking Swick? I don't wanna post the guy's pictures, but there's pics of it over at the USN. It has an upswept rhino-horn blade with the sharpened edge on the upper (spine) of the knife, meaning it looks like an upside down hawkbill.
If it's the same thing I'm thinking about, it was designed for whitewater/rescue use. The sharpened top edge would let you cut away from a patient to remove clothing and gear while still holding the blade in a normal grip. The idea was from a forum member called Trailmix. I think he has posted here under that name as well.

here's the original thread for this little guy.

still sad it never made it. these had a little too short of a cutting edge, needed to be about 1/2" more. the plan was to make them out of h1 and be fully serrated.
for what it's worth, they work very well for the intended purpose.
