I was looking to buy also. I think people like the length, smooth action from the liner lock, grippiness of the handles. I've read some that the tip isn't super strong, so going stab happy may not be advisable. It's a sought after piece as it's discontinued and aside from the Mule's, the only one with S90V steel.

I heard that sharpening will take a while so waiting until it's really dull probably isn't a good idea. A tradeoff for a knife that will keep an edge for a super long time!

Some of the reasons I like the Military:

1. Big blade in a very lightweight package
2. Open back construction makes it easy to clean
3. Superb liner lock mechanisim
4. Great ergos
5. Efficient design employing the highest quality materials requiring no fuss to maintain

P.s. I wouldn't worry about alleged problems sharpening S90V. You'll learn with practice.

You are in there as far as knives go. The S90V Millie, to me, is the absolute pinnacle of carry/user knives. It's a big knife that carries well. It's thin, but the handle feels great in the hand. S90V is just an incredible steel; Virtually rust-proof, takes a great edge and holds it for a LONG time, proven to be very tough (so far...who has broken a S90V blade?). Diamonds make sharpening a breeze but touch-ups on a Sharpmaker are no problem. Peel-Ply Carbon Fiber makes it super stiff, grippy and light...and of course, stylish. This is a very refined model that has all the right features. Buy one while you can!

Lorenzol - the CF s90v has "nested" duel liners (I believe that's how they are described but someone correct me if I'm wrong). They are not visible like the full dual liners on the Sage for example, not do they cover the entire length and width of the inside of the scales. At a casual glance it looks as if the Military is completely linerless, but if you shine a light and look closely inside you can see the two liners

The S90V/CF military is on my EDC rotation for the sole reason that it's design is so perfect. Grippy and light handle, long blade with a nice belly and spliter picker tip. It's easy to touchup on the sharpmaker, don't be scared of it. :)

I've got one -- it's really an incredible blade. Great edge -- and it's stayed sharp remarkably well.

Incredible knife. I went to pick up an Emerson at Davi's in Raleigh and decided to check out a few customs and some of the newer Spydercos. At the very end of the case they had a CF S90V Millie. After handling several CRK's, a few very nice Lightfoot customs and two Emerson's I'd been eyeing for a while I ended up walking out with the Millie.

I'm not a huge Millie guy, I've owned an S30V and D2 model for a short while and I had no intentions of getting another one. The fit and finish of the S90V was on par with the customs and CRK's (maybe I'm going a little far) but when your looking at spending between 200-400 on a new knife, Spyderco's quality just stood out.

I can't stop EDC'ing it. I'm still weary of the needle point but really I don't think it'll will be a problem. The thing feels like a frickin' lightsaber. Btw, the peel-ply CF is the best handle material out there in my opinion...

Old thread, but...

These knives are annoyingly expensive and hard to find nowadays.

Spent nearly a month and a half looking for NIB examples.

It's going to be tough. They are great users, and there weren't all that many made.

Define "annoyingly expensive".
