Collector's UKPK?

#1

Post by JJNH »

Hello! I just anxiously tore open the package containing my new-to-me orange UKPK.. It turns out it is marked 019V on the blade, which I think means it's one of the numbered first 100 collectors models. Is that true? I had intended for this knife to by my EDC.. would it be a shame to do so?

BTW, I had been debating whether to get the UKPK or Caly III. I'm so in love with the UKPK already I think I'll be picking up a Caly III as well!

same happened to me with my FG Leaf Urban. I got it and it has collector numbers. I'm using it and have no hesitations about doing so.

There are currently 200 CC numbers, quite a few of which are owned by retailers like New Graham. Depending on how far behind the engraver is, the CC numbered pieces may or may not be the first pieces of a production run. Over the last few years that I've been watching, at least half the time new models have been in the stores months before the CC pieces shipped.

The number doesn't add any value except to someone trying to collect that number. Heck, I've been carrying Titanium Police number 003 lately. :D
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Good to know. I like to check on these things because my grandfather once found a violin and decided to give it a nice fresh coat of shellac - Later on we found out it was a rare old Itallian violin which would have paid for my college if he hadn't done that.

I'm happy I can start pocketing this little beauty!
