Blu-ray

I recently got a 42" LCD HD TV and Blu-ray player (Insignia, Best Buy store brand, outstanding value for the money).

Wow! 1080p is really something. The best way to summarize is this: I no longer see much reason to go to the theater. Just wait for it to come out on Blu-ray.

Did you get a surround sound system to go with it?

What a coincidence, I recently got myself a 42" plasma and Blu-ray player (both panasonic from best buy). My tester movie was Casino Royal, and it's still the best looking movie I have.

What's your favorite Blu-Ray movie?

I've got a 2-channel system from my audiophile days that I'll take over anyone's surround (A SET tube amp running 45s, driving Audio Note AN-E speakers, if that means anything to anyone.).

The Usual Suspects is probably the best movie I've seen on Blu-ray so far.

My wife and I can't wait for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The first one is supposed to be out this year.

We did a Samsung 46" LCD 1080P and Sony Blu-ray this year. Amazing!

Even regular old DVDs look awesome on it.

I'm not going to blu-ray until the burner and media come down in price. dvd-18's never really got going, hopefully the 25gb on a blu-ray disc is cheap next year.

46" plasma upstairs, 30" flat panel downstairs, both with hdmi ports though the plasma also has a vga port (actually has the $1k input upgrade for 7-8 input choices).

If you think a computer game looks great on a 20" lcd... try playing something like F.E.A.R. at full graphics on a 46" plasma  :D
