Massad Ayoob
Massad Ayoob
Just ordered a Massad Ayoob. Paid a lot but I think it will be worth it.
Nice one :)
Coincidentally I just posted some photos of a friend's Ayoob in my picture thread. It felt good in the hand, not for everyone though as it is a specifically designed blade. Looks weird in a nice sorta way. But as a utility knife probably not so well suited.
Post some pics when you get it. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the knife.

This is one that never really did it for me. I have a user serrated one that I hardly use. The blade shape is nice, a gentle but constant curve. The angle of blade to handle just never worked well for me. I'd probably be more of a fan if they were in more of a straight-line relationship to each other.
For my user serrated knives, I've really gone to the hawkbills.
And for a defensive or carry piece, I have other options. :D

42 Spyderco fixed blades and counting...
C-60 Spyderco Ayoob; high on my list
Last spring when I was in a serious crunch economically speaking I had to sell off a few of my favorite old Spyders. I was offered what I considered a huge amount for both of my Ayoob models. But that was one model I just wouldn't let go of. And it almost meant for me to go without much needed essentials for a while. But I'm glad I toughed it out because that's one Spyder I consider "untouchable"
The C-60 Ayoob model has been a strong favorite of mine ever since it's release in the early part of this decade. It's in my all time top 10 Spyders and has been for many years. I carry the SE version as a self defense piece on occasions and it fits my hand like a nice glove.
The only thing I would change on my Ayoob models would be to have a grippier handle like peel ply CF or G-10. I'm glad to see threads come up often on this classic and I hope it eventually spurs on a sprint run.

The Ayoob and Kris are two of my favorite SD choices. The Ayoob is a great all around knife that just feels right no matter how you carry it. I don't pry with my knives. For everything I do with a utility knife, the Ayoob is a "jack of all trades". For self defense, well Massad there is none better. The true difficulty is that it is a beautiful knife and buying another is difficult.
Time for improved Ayoob model
I would just absolutely love to see Mr. Massad Ayoob and Mr. Glesser get together for another one of Mr. Ayoob's designs. If nothing else I would like to see a revamped and improved version of the C-60. I'm sure that Mr. Ayoob would have some ideas by now for modifications to that model. As popular as it has become I think it would definitely be a sure success.
A change in handle material and maybe a super blade steel like ZDP-189 or M-4. I know there are many of us in Spyderville that would support such a project.
I hope their listening to us :)
