Two knife combination

#1

Post by gull wing »

I know many of you carry two (or more) knives with you. I try to keep it light. I would not carry two in combo with a Manix for instance, just too much weight there.... So here are a couple of mine, show yours:

Stretch is a long blade that can do a lot and Urban can get in there close.

The Sage is on the top of my favorite list, strong but not bulky and Dragonfly has a splinter picking point.(w/G11 scales)

I like to carry one big PE knife (usually Military, Kris, C83 Persian or some flavor of E4) coupled with a smaller PE knife (usually Caly 3, mini Persian, Khukuri or some flavor of D4, typically waved). I also always have my SE Tasman Salt on me. That covers all bases + for me.

Salsa and Dodo are my favorite pair. The SE hooked blade of the dodo does the rough stuff, and the salsa is a premium slicer. The only thing that combo couldn't do would be to slice a thick loaf of bread :p

Two? I average two per pocket. One should always have a sharp knife, no matter what you've been doing to dull them. ;)

The only mili I have is CE, and it doen't see much use because it is 1/4" too long (it could be considered a weapon if I carried it in my pocket).

That's not to say that I wouldn't love a fully SE mili partnered with a Fully PE mili :D

I carry a couple different combos. Usually one shorter knife, one longer. One serrated, one not.

One of my favorites, and most common is a BG-42 Millie and a serrated Dodo or Cricket. I can do anything with this combo.

I don't have any pictures of the Dodo with the BG-42. But here's a decent pic of a S30V Dodo/Millie combo.

These are my usual combos:

1) Large Persian + Kopa (Cocobolo or black micarta) + Ladybug SS PE
2) Black Lum + Kopa + Ladybug
3) Military + Ladybug
4) Delica 4 + Ladybug

I usually try to have at least a large or mid size folder + a small NKP friendly (friendlier - sometimes they hate them all regardless of size or shape :) )

My favourite pair at the moment:

Stretch 2 + Quince Kopa (plus the SS PE Ladybug that lives on the keychain)

The Kopa and Stretch are a surprisingly complementary pair that appeal to my sense of sameness and symmetry -- they both use 1/8-inch steel with full flat grind, have back locks with Boye Dents and are virtually the same thickness.

The differences are ZDP + tip up (Stretch) and VG-10 + tip down (Kopa) -- plus size and friendliness factor. :)

My carry combos are

When not a work

Superhawk and Cricket SE
Image
Police 3 SE and Harpy SE
Image

And for work it varies a little.
Endura FRN SE or PE, Tasman SE, and Ladybug PE.

Most of the time I carry a hawkbill and something to complement it. Also I try to have a PE and SE on me.
