I think that Eric's new full flat Manix with the ball-cage lock would serve the design requirement. It's thinner than the first version.

Two friends got to see the proto Manix at BLADE Show and were very hyped when they got back . The Chief is a beauty but for me not in FFG , blade is just fine as represented in the photo . MG2

 - "Full flat Manix with ball--cage lock" - Sounds Awesome.

I agree after comparing. The Original Manix reallly looks like it would serve everything and more than the Native Chief Proto - Flat grind and likely better ergos in the handle, choil looks more ergonomic on Manix, etc.
Blade shape is debatable. I really like both: with and without hump; spear-point with more point and very shallow belly vs. leaf-blade with slightly more belly = both are good blade shapes.

..... So, since the new Manix has been shown at shows, when can we see some pics here?

Now I am worked up!

I just ordered 3 Spydies in the last couple of days that I don't even have yet and now I am dying to see the new Manix!!!

Mr Glesser I'll take one in PE, CE & SE. This is really timely for me because I've been EDCing an older 440V Native for the past few weeks and I"ve really developed a deep appreciation for the Golden CO made Native. And that 440V blade steel is just fabulous in that model. I'm probably going to EDC it for the rest of the year and then some  ;)

Sir that is one really cool design. As you can see by the responses you've gotten that knife already is a hit!!! Please keep us posted and please consider using a tool steel, or one of Crucible's other great blade steels for this one. I'm almost as excited about this model as I am the H-1 Spyderhawk we've chatted about.

Come on guy's/gals we need to beat the drum hard for this one. This is like a cross between the Native and the older Zowada model. This is one cool design!!!

The long, thin shape looks like it would be easy on the pocket, especially with a wire clip. Is there a photo of the Native Chief in the closed position?
It would make a great auto knife!

Oh, man...OH, man! Approximately when will we see pics? Will it be called the Manix II? Are you trying to thin my wallet? :D

Nice design! I've ALWAYS wished for the Native to have been longer. Hope it does become viable to produce one day.

The new Manix is exciting though! A thinner blade makes it very EDC-able.

I like it, in fact this is the only Native I would like to buy. If it would be real. :)

Sad thing is, it looks like the chinese were faster on the 'chief'..

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

Funny the description says it's linerlock but it looks like a lock back. Looks like this dealer has a lot of look alikes.

Holy zombie thread. I think I saw a mention a few months ago of the Native Chief. This thread doesn't particularly make me want one.

Not too crazy about the Native, but that Native Chief would be a knife that I would definetly buy! The Chief looks cool as ****, hopefully it comes out soon.

Never really gave the native much thought, but if it was bigger I would have to get one.

I really really liked the Native 4 but could never get myself one when it was in production. Afterwards, noting that the blades were becoming shorter, I never considered buying the other versions. This if it's made, will be an exception. It will also be an ideal model for the forum knife some day.

The probability of the Native Chief being made is stronger now than at any other time. I am confident that we will see it within a few years (realistically considering Spyderco's current development/production timeline).
