My Zebrawood Mule Team handle

Post by 2wheels »

I'm very much a beginning woodworker so this is still kind of rough, but here's my first stab at a set of scales. Zebrawood backed with Purpleheart, which didn't appear like I'd hoped. I think it came out a bit thick but a week or so of use will tell for sure.

Looks pretty good to me man. Especially if that's your first.

If it fit your paw, that's all that matters, love the choice of wood species. If you wanted a little more "pop" from the back wood, maybe find a slab of heart pine, it has a purple like no other.
learning it the hard way...

It looks pretty good, but I know if it was mine I'd be thinning it out. I know this because my first attempt at wood scales came out too thick, and I ended up thinning them out. ;)
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Thanks for all the comments, I spent a bit of time reshaping it on the sander and am much happier...
