The good Doc just described my feelings about it in an excellent way. I have a lot of spydercos, but if I see a knife I like in another brand I'll get it. I have gotten to try some good knives that way that I would have missed out on if I only bought Spydercos.

For me though I probably will always have the most Spydercos. I'm getting Kershaws now too, but I no longer have the disposable income I did in the past so I pretty much have to sell a knife to buy one now.

Speaking of Kershaw they are releasing the S110V folder now to the distributor. That looks to be a really good steel. The wear resistance of S90V, at higher RC's, without losing toughness, or corrosion resistance.

We'll see if it works out as well as the highly proven S90V, and ZDP. Joe

I own knives from quite a few companies but it seems that at least for my tastes and needs, Spyderco has it covered, but every now and then a new eye catcher comes out and then I's gotta have it! :D I also enjoy some ethnic knives which :spyder: doesn't have. My favorite brands are Randall, Chris Reeve Knives and Spyderco, but I don't like everything that they make, so then I venture out. I would say that I am probably more loyal to a design and quality than brand.

I had a Kershaw Jdog,Storm and a Viper-all framelocks,but didn't realy like them for long, and got rid of them-why?i didnt like the steel-everything about it. Spyderco on the other hand,there's basically no complaints my side-its hard not to like 'em. i still like my CS voyager medium Tanto alot-tuff lil knife and holds a reasonable edge on the VG1 bladesteel,i like the design mostly,but then again nothing else the company/CS represents,mostly because of THE LYNN!!

Tried several, but most leave me wanting, like they don't slice as well as a Spyderco.

My keepers are ZT301 and the Ti Cyclone.

Since I got into Spyderco I have been having a hard time pulling the trigger on other brands. Last year I grabbed a scallion (blue handle/black blade) at NG and I hate it. Really hate it. To all the Spyderco fans out there, are there any Kershaws that you like? Also, what other knife brands are in your collections?

personally, I would never buy another kershaw. Unless it's a top of the line model for 300 bucks, they are made cheaply with flimsy locks and crappy grinds.

I am pretty much a devout Spyder fan through and through. Now I will admit that occasionally a few competitors come through with something unique that catches my eye but it is becoming more of a rarity when I stray away Spyderco blades and sharpening tools.

I've always had a great deal of respect for VICTORINOX. I love their Swiss Tool X and I carry it on occasions. Also I think that Victorinox really does give someone good quality for the price.

I also have a great deal of respect for Benchmade, Boker, BladeTech & Surefire. Oh yes Surefire does make a pretty respectible blade as well as a great line of flashlights. Now if you're into fancy gentlemen's blades you need to take a look at William Henry. They're not my cup of tea but they are very quality minded.

But if Spyderco has what I need for a certain need I don't shop anywhere else. I am truly hoping that Spyderco will continue to expand their line of Sharpening equipment.

I believe Kershaws make good knives.Although Spyderco's make up most of my collection, I have a few Kershaws that I carry.My favorite is the Shallot.It is a solid, well made, stainless handled folder with an elegant look.It's in my pocket right now, and that says a lot for a guy with 30 plus knives.

My $30 storm has full flat grind and lock up solid, so is my leek.

Hey All, I own a few Kershaw Knives and have to admit, I haven't had any problems with any of them. I have 3 Mini Cyclones, which is a little BEAST of a blade. It's an A/O, but can also be disabled. It's been a fine companion while carrying it. One other to mention is the Avalanche with S30V blade steel. Very durable and won't disappoint. It's another A/O, but I removed it and it remains a manual opener and is still fast opening, smooth, and ROCK SOLID Lock-up.

We all come here for our "BELOVED SPYDERCO BLADES", but the real reason that I see ... Is for Our True Love of the The Knife Itself ... No Matter What Brand It Is, or Who Makes It . It's about learning, experiencing, and Sharing Knowledge. Take Good Care All and Be Safe Always.

I love the looks & feel of my Queen Cutlery canoe, but I can't convince the D2 to take an edge.
Case's CV line is quite nice - I've been using a medium stockman as a school edc lately and it raises no eyebrows. (the edge that steel takes is really lovely, too)

I can't see myself buying another company's high-tech folders, though. The care put into :spyder: s is apparent - from the feel to the workmanship to the price. Basically, Spyderco ruined me for any other company :) & that's fine.

I finally sacrificed the blade etch on my Queen D2 stockman and whittler and thinned the main clip blades on a belt sander. Since I took them down to about 0.017" behind the edge, I have had no trouble getting them sharp. The smaller blades were fine, but the main clip blades were too thick to take a good edge.

What other brands do I buy? Case, Queen, Imperial, Hammer, Cattarugus, Western, Buck, Schrade, Ulster, Kabar, Bingham, Camillus, Browning, Kissing Crane, Remington, Winchester, Boker...you get the idea.

I can understand why some of you, including thomas, disagree. however, I'm basing my conclusions on my personal experiences. Nothing more, nothing less. Those could be skewed, but they are what they are.

I have a pair of leeks. I have the rainbow, which is the first knife hubby got me (strategic gift giving guys...LOL) cuz it's REALLY PRETTY. Then i thought it was too pretty to use... so i got myself a pink leek.. and that's in my EDC rotration now, I LOVE IT :D

then hubby got me a yellowhorse cricket... and i've racked up the rest of the cricket set from there

ohhhh... i also have an El Cheapo Schrade auto (tiny thing) that i use for total beat up jobs, like cutting the little strings that get caught in the vacuume cleaner :o

Butch Harner Folder- one of the best working knives that I have ever had.

I had my Endura since the mid 90's and "lost" it for a while. Then I got into
Cold Steel. I found my Endura around the house one day. Prior to finding
my Spydie I got in to Cold Steel as a replacement.

I have the Leek, Scallion, and Chive. I like the Scallion the best of the three but I don't like to carry any of them. I worry that they will open in my pocket and the safety is in an unusual area and hard for my fingers to get to. So I carry my old Delica and have no problems and complete reliability. :spyder:

Well I just picked up a Benchmade Pika. All in all I'd give it an okay but nothing to get too excited about. First impression, not too sharp out of the box. The action is so stiff on it, it's hard to open and to close is even harder. I'm sure it will loosen up if it gets pocket time. The clip, although ambi, is very flimsy. One good feature about the clip is that it looks very much like a low rider clip. The knife sets very deep in the pocket. It's rare these days for me to buy anything but Spyderco so I thought I'd mention the latest non-Spyder.

Most of my knife "collection" are Spyders, but there are almost as many Benchmades (most are disco'd models) and Chris Reeve product as well. Whenever I'm gifting a knife though it has been only Spyders. Have dabbled with other brands, would like to buy more Buck or another Strider, or try a Kershaw or Al Mar. Haven't been disappointed in any of them. Have a Kirby Lambert which is fine knife.

Lately most of my knife cash has been going into buying tools for knifemaking and parts such as G-10 and barstock. Am now saving up for some measurement tools from Starrett or Mitutoyo (spelling?). Yesterday I turned out my first for my oldest girl in CPM 3V and put a blue/black G-10 handle on an M4 mule.
