Are you sitting down Will?...........It's only $6,575 :eek:Th232 wrote:Haven't heard of it, but I get this distinct feeling that I'll go into shock if I hear the price...
It's actually cheaper than a lot of other Rolex models. :D
Thanks for being honest Shike! :DShike wrote:Very nice, but................... it doesn't look good on you. You should let me break it in for ya for say about 20 years :D
Seriously it looks great. Enjoy!

If I still had an extra one laying around I'd probably let you borrow it.

Forget all that Japanese and chinese mass produced junk.Switzerland is the country that knows how to make a watch. For under 300 dollars you can ge ta Tissot pr50 that is built like a tank and looks good as well.I have had one on my wrist for over 10 years now, and consider it miles ahead in quality compared to any Seiko or the like. For the money it can't be beaten.
Timex is an excellent brand. Although, obviously, not as a status symbol brand such as Rolex.p.jester84 wrote:And what do you say on watches Timex??? Or Orient??? My Timex Expedition cost me $55. In terms of quality and function, it has outperformed two Victorinox models costing $200 and $450 respectively. The Vics were more handsome than my Timex, but both of them suffered from two different QC issues that were simply unacceptable. I got fed up, and returned both. Nothing wrong with having a good-looking watch on your wrist. But at the most basic level, it should function properly as a time-piece. My Timex does that well. My Vics did not.

I just got one of these. The Alessi Luna. Italian design and manufactured by Seiko. Such a beautiful design. It's actually featured in the Museum of Modern Art.
I was considering a Hamilton Khaki and a Lip Mach 2000, but I went with this instead. Purely beautiful. Incredible construction, and.......only $100.
You would easily be able to convince people this watch was $300 or more. The whole watch unit looks seamless and the leather band is top notch. Super soft and resilient and it smells great.

I bought mine in 1967 on R&R in Hong Kong -- for HK$507. At today's exchange rate, that's US$88 (a lucky number in Chinese, as it turns out), although I don't know what the exchange rate was then.Qrt wrote:buying a rolex is far from insane, seeing that they only go up in value after you buy them
Today, the old ones often sell for more than the new ones -- apparently, a lot of clubbers like this particular model. I know at least three of my young female colleagues have new ones flopping about on their slim wrists.

My Watches
1972 Bulova Accutron RR Approved
1974 Bulova Accutron Spaceview
Omega Seamaster Professional Co-Axial GMT Selfwinding with Display back
Omega Seamaster Professional Moon Watch Chronograph with display back
I had to have index wheels in both Accutrons but they now alternate
with the Omegas for every day wear and are more accurate (2 seconds per day) and can be further regulated fast or slow overnite by placing 12 o'clock up or down.
I have had the Omegas for several years and the Moon Watch (manual
wind) is actually more accurate than the GMT Chronometer.
The Accutrons can go for years and years with nothing more than a battery
change due to the few moving parts. The Omegas need to be serviced every
5-10 years. I can recommend any of these but individual likes and prices vary so much that it comes down to a personal decision. I like this thread.
