Another Sage on the way.

For me, the Sage is the best Spyderco.* Got my first as soon as they came out and it was a perfect fit. The S30V blade is exactly the shape I like, carbon fiber is just a little grippy and looks great, and the most impressive feature is the rock solid, no play handle system. Now that I see they aren't going to build any more, I just had to have another. What if I loose this one? In a fix, I would be. Now safe :D

* - Calypso Jr is right in there as well, but I use it as a pocket scalpel. Sage is a little biger and much stronger. (of course I replaced the FRN with G10, Carbon fiber on my CJ's)

I'd really like to have one, I look at it as a UKPK with a lock, lightweight (also), and in CF. All perfect in my book... :)

Still saving for this one.

I would think naturally that they would cease production on the current Sage when tooling up for the next version of the Sage.

They do not make the old Police now that they make the new one, nor do they still produce the D3.

Just a thought and I may be waaaay off base.

IIRC Sal said they would keep making all versions of the Sage (there is only one right now) even when different lock versions are out as long as there is demand for that respective knife.

edit..i found the thread where Sal talks about its production http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.p ... light=sage

May be I was dreaming :) . I WAS pretty sure of myself when I ordered the
2nd. Nevertheless, I've been around long enough to know a knife like this doesn't come around very often. I am not sorry I ordered.
I almost missed out on getting two Grey VG10 Calypso Jr's, it won't happen again.

I'm sure the framelock version will be great, but in the end, there only two framelocks I like and carry(neither are Spyderco's).

WHAT!?

They do... :) In spite of the same name, the FFG G-10 Police will NOT replace the SS Police. Actually, if I had to bet on one of them to survive, I'd say the "original" SS Police will be the one.

To be honest, I think the "new Police"3 is so different (finger choil, FFG, G10, longer blade, different handle shape, you name it) it would have deserved its own SKU :)
