I've been using my Dodo. I imagine the can opener would do less damage to my fragile self if I slip while opening the package. I'll give it a shot.

Wow, I'm glad it's not just me who hates these darn things. Nothing fun about skinning your hand trying to open a clampack.

My Bandsaw is the fastest and safest way to handle those clampacks.

Guess and table scroll saw would work just as well.....

Clampacks are so much fun. Just the type of job for the hawkbill to show off the hawkbills capabilities.

Just sink the tip to form a hole, insert the blade in an inverted position, and pull the clampack along the blade. Works like a dream if your knife is sharp.

Very true. My cricket and my dodo are my favorites for this :D I think SE works better too...

But, a SE blade works well too, if you can use a single scallop, it's just like using a mini hawkbill

Another reason to own a HAWKBILL

#15

Post by JD Spydo »

I have a can opener device/tool on my Victorinox Swiss Tool X. I can see how that would work very well. Albeit I usually open any clampacks I need to open with the pocketknife I just happen to be carrying on that given day.

Now there are probably a dozen good ways to open those stubborn packages. But this can opener idea is a good one in that you could use it to where you wouldn't cut the merchandise inside the Clampack.

Now the ultimate knife to use is a Hawkbill. The Dodo is up till now the best knife I've ever used to open a Clampack. ANOTHER GREAT REASON TO OWN A HAWKBILL!!!

Clam pack ripper extraordinaire...

Any hawk will do, they were made for it! The Byrdhawk (Crossbill), with its nice, pointy tip, is perfect for this! :D

Gonna have to agree here.

Nothing like a Harpy, Tasman Salt, Cricket, or any other hawkbill for clampacks.

They put those things into submission. :)
