Types of Spyder carry....

I own quite a few knives with clips but don't carry them too often because it can be too conspicuous to certain people that don't have a need to know that I'm carrying. I generally carry other knives with nylon sheaths for EDC convenience, but I wanted to ask all of you Spyderholics---what would be the best way to carry a Spydie?

Today I carried my Delica with the clip between the belt and waistline, leaving the knife inside my jeans (concealed). I found this carry comfortable in that the blade was secure and not obvious to other people, yet easily accessible.

How do you carry your Spydie?

The type of carry you tried is known as iwb, in waist band. It works very well with many models. I usually don't worry about the clip being visible. You may consider a neck sheath.

I normally carry all my knives concealed, when all possible. I used to carry my EDC knives in the tool pocket of my carpenter jeans. Now, with college and all, I carry them where they won't be easily seen. For example:
I carry a Mouse in the coin pocket of my jeans, a full-size Wegner in my waistband, a Ladybug in my front right pocket and a SE Spydercard in my wallet. ( I also carry a Swiss-Tech Utilli-Key and Leatherman Micra on my keychain. ) All of these are unseen by the general public, but are accessible at a moment's notice. I personally enjoy the fully "concealed mode", and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good way to carry some "steel".

IWB RULES!!!

I've been carrying IWB since I got the Cricket(Tufram/SE) around this time last yr. When I got the Drgaonfly(SS/PE) in August, it replaced the c29 as my IWB EDC.

You can also try IWB above your wallet or closer to center. I carry the Delica(FRN/PE) there when I'm wearing combats.

Would the Tim Zowada make a good "boot knife"? I would like to get something that would ride on my ankle without hampering movement. Any ideas?

As for IWB carry, I agree that it may be the best way to keep your steel concealed.

I carry my C 29BK "Cricket" in my old
West German "flectar" camo jacket sleeve
pocket ( on the right arm ). It's not as
easily deployed, but, is secure and

I recently tried a new carry method. I put some nylon cord around my neck and clipped my Dragonfly to it and wore it like a neck knife (folded of course). This was a very effective concealment method but accessability is slow, especially if you tuck your shirt in. It was quite comfortable and worked well with my Delica too. The knife stayed flat against my chest and never came off the string. I would stick to IWB or clipped inside the pocket for quicker access, but this is definately an option and would be great for carrying a second knife.

I have an all stainless Rookie that I used to carry IWB, but have noticed that on hot days, when you're sweating, this can create small spots on the steel. Though it is only a darker shade of the steel, I think this is a rust spot. May want to be careful.

Not to be too "old school," but don't forget that if you feel the need to be discreet, you can always just drop a Spydie down into your pocket ala an old-fashioned pocketknife. I used to do this from time to time with my Delica. It would work even better with the smaller models. IMHO, clipped is best, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, right? For instance, going into a concert one time, the security goons were frisking everyone. So I unclipped my Endura and tucked it into my back pocket, behind my wallet. I skated right through security with it undetected and, 20 feet into the venue, took it out, re-clipped and headed off happily for the beer stand.

IWB is a good way to carry your Spydie out in public. I went to a concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell pavillion in The Woodlands, TX, once with my Endura clipped in my pocket. I was stopped by the person who took our tickets and made to check the knife before being allowed on the property. Part of their "no weapons" policy or some such nonsense. It amazes me that some people are unable to view a pocket knife as anything other than a weapon. How do they manage to bumble through the day w/o a decent knife?
