JD Smith Pics/Updates for C41CFP & C114WMP

#1

Post by TazKristi »

As promised, here are a few images of the new JD Smith (C58GPFG). Sorry, nothing fancy, just "quick & dirty". (They really don't do it justice, my ATR is going to have company) ;)

Updates...

C41CFP - Native4 - I do not have an ETA at this point, so that puts it 45-60 days out. When I have more info, I'll of course post it.

C114WMP - Viele Phoenix - We just received our initial shipment of these. This first shipment will go to Collectors, so I wouldn't look for stock with Dealers for another 30-45 days. We should get another shipment in October, those will go out through our normal distribution chain.

Kristi,

is that the prototype? Sal said that the production version will be full flat ground.

My impression, too, but I think I actually prefer the saber grind. It maintains more of the character of the original. I hope this is the production model.

There are similarities but several differences as well. The handles, while "similarly" shaped are contoured differently with the Smith being a bit more ergonomic. The clip on the Smith is 4 way. The Smith's blade is a bit pointer and it's PE.

I'm not saying the differences are like those between a Dodo and a Military  but I don't think they are less than between, say, a Sage and a Caly 3 (overall style/size/shape, I realize they use different locking systems.)

I like it.It looks old school yet modern. It sort of has a bowie style blade look to it, like the chinook 1. I wish I could find a chinook 1, I just like the blade style better than the new ones.
