I wouldn't mind picking up a fb05(Temperance) or a fb01... the temperance looks like a good camping design, but the moran would be better for urban carry.
}{ We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare... }{
I own and use the trailing point Moran for camping and the drop point Moran for hunting. I love them both, just the right size for all the chores I have.
The Lum is the most elegant of the bunch, but still would be at home in some back alley. The Perrin is street steel pure and simple, but looks like it'd be at home in a kitchen drawer. The Morans are great field/utility knives that can also be used for MBC. The Temperance fixed blade will be whatever it's owner wants it to be. I've handled the protos and the knife will bebe egual to the task in camp, at home, or in the street. It's light and fast, and the ergonomics of the handle are outstanding - even has a special groove in the butt for capping with your thumb in reverse grip and detents for indexing/manipulations. Even with their martial potential, they all have a sheeple friendly look. Well done, Poppa Spyder!
My choice would be (is actually, just ordered one) the Perrin FB. I love Perrin´s designs, especially the Griffes. He´s really great at turning out knives that seem to instinctively be "just right" for me. And he´s a maniac, of the nice kind. I´m really interested in seeing and feeling how the Spydie collabo turned out, given that Perrin´s customs have a very raw finish and feeling to them.
And by the way, I don´t care much for serrated edges (just my personal opinion, no bash), especially on fixed blades.
I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TEMPERANCE AND WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST A HORIZONTAL CARRY SHEATH FOR IT. IT'S JUST THE RIGHT SIZE FOR THAT STYLE OF CARRY & WOULD BE A LITTLE MORE DISCREET IN THAT MODE.
Throw in them teklocks and you shall carry your FB spydies in any positions.. <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
The FB temperance is just screaming for a hole in the blade! I like the design, but it just does look finished. (aesthetically speaking) Of course, I always value function over form. Looking forward to the SE model.
