I chose the UK Penknife just to have you get back to basics... back to tradition. :) Folding knives didn't always have locks and they did just fine.

I specifically did not pick the Para-Military. The worth of this knife has already been well proven by many...

Also, the Para-Military is your favorite, and it wouldn't be fair for you to survive with a knife you like and are familiar with.

In fact, what's cool about this test (since we're picking the knife for you) is that you'll be demonstrating the answer to the old question... "What defines a survival knife?" The typical answer is... "Whatever knife you happen to have on you."

When the knife has been chosen for you by the members, would you please provide us with your initial assessment of the knife at the start of the test (such as whether you've used the knife before and what your feelings are towards the knife)? It'll be interesting to see whether your opinion changes during the exercise.

I vote for the Stretch 2. Joe

I vote for the ukpk. I too would love to see if a non locking folder will serve all your needs for 6 months.

Looks like a landslide for the UKPK, so I've posted up the final poll thread with some "others" that folks suggested.

Your final decision will be what I purchase and carry for 6 months.

Thanks,
David :)

I dare you to carry your Military for six months NKP factor be darned. :(

It will always be my favourite Spydie. The reason I carry small is because of what other people may say.

If you will carry yours for six months I will carry mine ;)

BTW I haven't bought a new Spydie this year because of about the same reason as you.

Whatever choice you make, I'm curious :)

Arend,

LOL :D

I almost wanna do that. I know that in my city that anything over 2.5" is illegal. I don't much care because they have told me in person that they don't give a crap as long as you use it as a tool and are not causing trouble. Where I would be concerned using it (a Military) would be at work. I am pretty sure if a few people complained that I could get let go for that knife (the Military).

My vote is the FG UKPK. I have one that I picked up and it moved the favorite Caly3 out of the FR pocket. I do carry a Strider in BR pocket in case I need something heavier, but I dare say the UKPK could do it all. I am interested to see how it goes whichever knife you choose.

OK, well I'm stopping this since it's Wednesday Morning and the UKPK has won over here with 25% of the 100 votes.

Thanks people! :)

I'll be buying a UKPK shortly and then it will begin. :)

I actually wanted the Caly3 but I'm also curious about the slipjoint. Have fun!
