I had the opportunity to handle one of these at a local dealer the other day and fell in luv with this knife. Haven't seen many threads posted about it so was looking for some honest opinions on it. Thanks.

Your right, the Vesuvius is a great knife. It's size is between the Delica and Endura. It has the Compression lock, dual steel liners, tip up/tip down, ATS-34 blade steel, open back for easy cleaning, plain edge or 50/50 and your choice of in-lay on the handle. The thumb rest behind the opening hole is grooved for traction. You can adjust the pivot for opening ease. Also the price is right. Just an overall nice knife. I've been carrying mine for awhile now(Picked it up in a trade). I enjoy it alot. It also serves as my "pajama" knife. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Spyderco makes so many great knives that some get lost in the shuffle. I hope there is alot of people carrying this knife or maybe recommending it to friends. Alot of non-knife people don't want to spend $120.00 for a knife, but for around $60.00 or so you can get a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Vesuvius. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I got one of these that is numbered with bug inlay but it sits in my case and looks pretty. Seems like a cool design and one of these days I intend to get another to use. Can't wait to get the forum version as well.

My local dealer has one with a 50/50 blade I believe it was and the silver <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> on the handle. Price was about $65. That sound right? Think I'm gonna get this one to compliment my Endura for EDC.

I have the Blue shell inlay model with PE. It's my current EDC, when not at work, and is now my favorite all time tac folder. For me it's perfection in a locking folder! RKBA!

My wife just presented me with a PE Military for our second anniversary (what a gift!)..So I guess the Vesuvious will just have ta wait a tad longer...*sigh*

Forum Vesuvius isn't available yet.

Last I saw was a post from Sal or Carlos saying the handles were just in and it would be 6 months.

I could be wrong about the 6 months part though.

My favorite new Spyderco, don't care for the ats-34, but the rest of the knife makes up for that, I hope this knife sticks around a while because its going to be a seller for them.

One of my favorite Spydies ( outside my
"Cricket" ) is the "Vesuvius"; I got mine
with the abalone inlay. Problem was the "tip
up" carry didn't set to well with the
"compression lock" design ; The blade had a
tendency to work out of the handle if one
moved about rigorously. Sent it to Mike at
S.F.O. and had the clip re-positioned to "tip
down". Problem solved. Otherwise, a new
revolution in locking mechanisms.

I picked one up at this past weekend's ECCKS in NY. This is a very sweet knife. Spyderco should be congratulated on this one.

It handles beautifully and is very well-constructed. I'm delighted and am already in the hunt for another one.

Nuts! I'm drooling on the keyboard.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Beautiful knife in any case.
